Z-lib.io is a site where you can LEGALLY download pdf books.

   It was closed for some time, but it is back, being one of the best sites to download books, having a large amount of books.
   LinkedIn telling why it was shut down:
   The take   down of Z-Library by US authorities was due to allegations of copyright infringement. The library was accused of hosting copyrighted material without permission, which violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The authorities argued that Z-Library was not only facilitating the distribution of copyrighted material, but was also profiting from it.

In addition to the copyright infringement concerns, there were also fears about the security of users' personal information. The authorities believed that the site could be used for malicious purposes, such as the spread of malware or the theft of personal information.

Although these accusations were brought against z-lib.io, from my own experience I can say that it is not dangerous.
