C H A P T E R 2I tried to glance at myself in the mirror one last time before I left out.; trying to put on a facade before I stepped into the world. I stood in my quiet small home, alone, wondering why my life is so fucked.
I have no family, no friends, and a shitty job that only pays me 15$ an hour. I'm twenty four with no college degree nor a diploma. I'm a fucking failure.
I sighed before grabbing my keys and wallet, walking out of my apartment door to rush out of the building with my head down low.
This is just how life was for me.
A girl with no friends, no family and barely any money.
A girl with no excitement and a deep hatred for her miserable life routine.
A girl with no meaning to her life
A girl with no hope for her future
A girl who wishes she was dead every time she wakes up because she's tired of being a nobody.
That was me. It will always be me
.....
"Hello, welcome to Big Mack's, what can I get you?" I voice through the drive thru headset while finishing off with a costumers order.
I've been here for a good nine hours covered in ketchup and cooking grease. My hair was a mess on top of my head and I swear I smelt my armpits every time I lifted them up. I'm tired and drained from any energy and all I wanted to do was go home but it looks like that won't be happening for me in a while because I was asked to stay for another three hours because someone called off.
Like whose fault is that? Why do I have to pick up the slack? Not to mention, I'm not allowed to get another thirty minute break because I'm not going over the 12 hour limit which is bullshit.
Ughh!
"Ummm yes can I get aaa...'" I sighed. One thing about these fast food places is that it never fails to have a customers like this one. Indecisive.
"Would you like me to help you with the menu ma'am?" I ask politely while bagging up the rest of another customers food. My coworker, Anthony, grabs the bags from me and hands the out to the man waiting at the register.
"No I can read just fine, thank you." The woman in my ear spat with annoyance and I sucked in my breath to hold my tongue from calling her otherwise. "Give me a number one with extra pickles and no mayo. Also, can you switch out the bun for me? I want a seeded bun instead of a Texas toast bun, they're to buttery."
"Okay and what-"
"Excuse me, I wasn't done." I rolled my eyes. "For my drink I want a large chocolate milkshake and make sure that's not watery or you will have a problem."
"Okay, what size meal?"
"What size does it come with?"
"Medium."
"How much will that be?" Here we go..
"11.42 ma'am." I say in monotone, not being in the mood to be polite towards this woman.
"Why is it so much for three items?"
I wanted to say: "I don't know lady I just work here okay? Do you want the damn meal or not with your cheap ass."
