The breeze flows faintly through my red curls, while my gaze is chained to the Moon, which illuminates my face softly. I watch her, her arm dangling on the windowsill of my room and her head resting on it. The silence of the night reigns undisputed, but I can't sleep.
My gaze runs through the garden under the house, the well-cut hedges and the tidy lawn. I breathe out a light, almost imperceptible sigh. I notice something moving beneath me, under my window. I observe carefully: a cat looks at me from the gate and then rests its gaze on it.
I get up without thinking twice, go down the big steps of my little house. Step by step I try to reach the door that leads to the garden. I open the door, the cool air against my hot skin. Darkness reigns around me, the light of the Moon is the only thing that allows me to spot the cat again.
He is still there, waiting for me. Now he's staring me in the eye. Look against look. I approach slowly, then opening the small mahogany gate. The little animal crosses it and then stops near a bush and observes me again, almost as if inviting me to follow it. I decide to listen to my conscience and without thinking much, I start walking behind him, until I find myself in an area unknown to me.
The Moon illuminates my path and the numerous daisies that grow peacefully in this almost magical place. I approach one of those white flowers and inhale its scent. Their sweet smell invades my nostrils, reaching my brain and conquering my mind.
My gaze wanders around me, searching for the mysterious cat. A note of disappointment creeps into me when I realize he's gone. I focus again on the flowers, the immaculate petals surrounding that little yellow sun. Looking at them, memories come back to me spent with my friends during the hot and cold days spent together. My heart speeds up and I find myself smiling at those memories.
The me of several years before goes back to running carefree among the yellow wheat fields, under the scorching sun and in the background the noisy laughter shared with them, my friends and at the same time my family.
With these thoughts echoing in my mind, I return home to my warm bed. I close my eyes, enjoying the noisy silence of this room and, before falling into a sudden sleep, I think about how much I love my friends.
