"Jeon Jungkook. Fire" the boy extended his other free hand to me.

I hugged her and felt how incredibly warm she was.

"Chrapus Martinus. Water" our driver turned to the back seat and extended his hand as well.

When I took it, I felt that it was smaller and softer than Jungkook's hand. It was also a bit damp. As if...

"...like he has hyperhidrosis, huh?" The treaker spoke up.

I covered my mouth with a hamburger so as not to answer and waited for further explanations.

"There are four elements, you probably know," said Martinus. "Water and fire are in alliance against the partnership of earth and air. There are always some strange misunderstandings between these couples. Jungkook and I were on a little mission to maintain relative peace between the families..."

"No, no," Jungkook interrupted him impatiently. "You present it like it's nothing serious. Listen, child - I think this is for me - these are not any misunderstandings, but bloody conflicts. War is hanging in the balance. And this is no small mission. As the elite of the families, we were sent and it depends on us whether the fate of the world will be good or not at all... hehe. Now you know what kind of personalities you are dealing with. I am hoping for a little more respect."

"You don't look like covenant members." I dared to express my doubt.

"Ah, sympathy has nothing to do with it. We are in covenant because our gifts are somewhat useless towards each other. We can delay for two days and we won't do anything to the other one."

"The rest of the story is very typical," Martinus continued. "We believe that the world should remain as it is, er... a diverse ecosystem, so to speak. They want to kill you because you are useless. We don't want them to come to power, etc. To this we can add some past disagreements...

"Anyway, we're here scouting. We are to detect their centers where they gather, and then we will come in a slightly larger group, destroy them and that's it. Sitter."

Ah, yes. Everything sounds completely normal. I'm surprised with how disrespectfully they talk about all this, as if they didn't have to worry about anything and were sure of success.

"If so, why are we in this car?"

They exchanged a slightly embarrassed look.

"They have their own scouts too, and I think they may have picked up on our trail." Martinus explained.

"And since we lived with you for some time, we couldn't leave you alone. They might try to get something out of you in not-so-nice ways." As Jungkook talked about it, his forehead clouded and his usual mocking expression disappeared from his face.

So I got myself into a war between supernatural beings. Hello, adventure of a lifetime.

"Where are you from?" I asked a question that had been bothering me for some time.

"Oh, oh, so many questions." Jungkook interrupted me. "We don't know anything about you. Maybe we're a little detached, but even here you don't see people this lonely very often. Why hasn't anyone spoken to you for two weeks?"

When I met them, I pushed the moment out of my mind when I should share my story. This question caught me off guard. I wasn't prepared for it. I've never talked about myself before. And I didn't want to do it in the car in the parking lot behind McDonald's, while enjoying a burger and a Coke.

Martinus turned around and all I could see was the back of his head and his moving jaw. Jungkook didn't eat. He looked at me with curiosity, but without expectation.

"I'd rather not talk about it for now." I said what I felt, hoping he wouldn't threaten to burn off all the hair on my head.

He read my face for a few more seconds before I heard, "Okay," and he turned away to finish what he had left to eat. He must have been pleased because he kept letting out happy grunts and frowning adorably.

"What else can you do?" I asked because I saw that being a living flamethrower wasn't everything.

"Oh well. Apart from the fact that we are handsome (some more, some less) and very strong. We can evoke certain emotions. Martinus is drowsiness, you could see that."

That's true. All these nights I slept deeply and peacefully. I knew it couldn't be a coincidence, because I usually slept lightly and often had nightmares.

"And you?" I don't know why, I was a little afraid to ask.

He looked at me triumphantly. He looked and looked, and strange things started happening to me. I smelled his masculine scent, became aware of the shape of his lips, the line of his neck. My cheeks became warm, my breathing quickened, and butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I didn't think about anything, not even about Martinus sitting thirty centimeters away from me. I just wanted to feel the warmth of the dark-eyed boy's skin, run my fingers through his ebony hair. I leaned forward and then my daze disappeared and I looked at Jungkook squirming with laughter.

"Never do that again!" I screamed, hitting him with my weak fists. "What is this even supposed to be?! Stupid and useless."

"Oh, princess, one day you will see how useful this art is." He laughed continued, showing his white teeth. I finally started laughing too, staring at him.

Martinus was sitting in the front seat. He didn't say anything. He just ran his finger on the steering wheel.
