Dawn hit the tiny rural neighborhood of South Australia, as Lisa woke up to another miserable and lonely day for her. The only good thing that came out of today was that it was Saturday, meaning a weekend. But even a weekend couldn't put Lisa in a good mood. With her end of year exams coming up, Lisa was often forced to comply with schoolwork and extra-credit. Even Tom, her annoying third-grade brother was being forced into studying for his upcoming assignments.

To make matters worse, she and Sky weren't exactly on speaking terms with each other. As Lisa got dressed and headed for the living room, she thought about hiding up in her treehouse. After eating breakfast, Lisa grabbed her laptop, and climbed up to the treehouse in the back of her yard. The treehouse was a cozy little place she and Tom would hide up in when they were playing or studying. They had even had a sleepover in it.

As Lisa opened her laptop and started on her English assignment, she couldn't help but notice a bike parked outside her house. How strange, Lisa thought. It was a bright blue bike, with a shiny, polished bell on the clean handles and a black leather seat. She got down from her treehouse and went to the letter box where it was tied up. As she examined the bike, she saw a figure leaving her house. She looked familiar, but Lisa did not recognise her. Suddenly, she realized who it was.

"TINA!" Lisa yelled, a bit too loudly. Tina, who at first seemed taken aback at such an abrupt greeting, greeted her all the same. She had her short bouncy hair in two ponytails by her side, and she wasn't wearing her glasses.

"Well hello to you to", she replied to Lisa. Lisa blushed a little but seemed happier than this morning.

"W-well, um... hi!" She replied. The two caught up with the usual stuff that people do on weekends, sibling fights, homework and casually strolling through the countryside.

"Ha ha, Tina is not my actual name, Lisa", Tina explained to her.

"Then what is it?" Lisa asked curiously.

"I'm not telling you my Chinese name. Besides you won't be able to pronounce it", she indignantly replied. When Lisa's puppy eyes did not work, she gave up.

"Fine, you don't have to tell me. But if you do, I'll teach you some French", Lisa offered. This seemed to make Tina give in, for she had nodded and whispered something in Lisa's ear, which sounded much like a name.

"Now you have to teach me some French", Tina said triumphantly.

"Fine. To say hello is bonjour", Lisa said.

"Hey, I already know that. Teach me something I don't know", Tina said matter-of-factly.

"Je m'appelle Lisa. J'ai treize ans. J'aime le dessin, le danse et jouer de la musique. Je parle francais." Lisa told Tina. Tina just stared blankly at Lisa. Lisa sighed.

"To say your age, you don't say 'I am thirteen', you say 'I have thirteen years'. Je suis means 'I am' and J'ai means 'I have'. 'Parle francais' means 'Speak French'". Lisa explained to her formerly clueless friend. A look of realisation came onto her face as she understood what to blonde girl in front of her was saying.

"French is hard. I'm glad I never have to learn this at school", she replied to the French girl. And the two girls laughed. Soon it was time for them to go back to their houses and do their homework. But Lisa felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders as she hugged her friend.
