Narrator POV:
A few Days later
The King had been called away by duty to inspect the situation on the new border, the no man's land that separated the land of Evergreen and the sahara desert, named the "Crimson Waste" after the bloodshed the War had caused. While the War had, essentially, ended, there was still a lot of tension on both sides, even with trade going strong
Glimmer loved her Mother so being summoned by her was neither a rare nor unpleasant occurrence. She liked the throne room, the air of superiority and authority that always hung in the Air, the reverence in the eyes of the Knights and Advisers that were always in there...yet today, she found it empty, with only her Mother sitting on the Throne
"You..have called for me, mother?"
"Indeed...Do you wish to tell me anything?"
"What...might you be referring to?" Glimmer was nervous, the atmosphere so different from what she had come used to in this place and her Mothers gaze so much colder than usual. The Queen clapped her hand and through the Door that lead to the hidden compartment in which Soldiers were stationed in case of an attack, came Sir Benhan, an old friend of the Family and Noble knight who had been in her Families service since she could remember...yet he was not alone
On Chains and beaten to a bloody pulp, he dragged someone that Glimmer, sadly, recognized "B-bow?" she stuttered in shock but dared not to move under her mothers gaze
"Nothing to say to me yet?"
The situation became painfully obvious...someone told her "Who..WHO? WHO COULD HAVE BETRA..." Glimmer's thoughts raced before her mind came up with the only answer it deemed acceptable: "CATRA!"
The Queen watched her daughter in silence before she gave sir Benhan a nod and he drew his sword "You have one last chance, daughter of mine...speak" she said as the blade was held under the barley conscious Boys throat and only now saw Glimmer how dire her situation really was
"I...im e-expecting....m-mother" she said, causing Bows eyes, or rather eye since his left had been swollen blue with bruises, to bulge out in shock
"Oh..how marvelous...and pray tell, who would be the Father of this union?"
"Please....don't" Glimmer said, her voice barely audible
"Speak up Child, I can scarcely understand you"
"Bow Fletcher" she admitted, looking at the young Man and feeling more fear than she ever had before
With a nod, sir Benhan released his grip and put his Sword back into its sheath "I value the truth and you have been honest with me..good. Now I give you two options...Marry your current fiance and give up on the plan you and your sister had thought up..."
"Only we three knew of the plan...and Adora would never betray me.." she thought, her hands balled in fury
"Or...marry him" she said, pointing at Bow, to Glimmers surprise
"Wh-what?"
"Why not? You already carry his Child and he does have a good standing with the Townsfolk. While not a noble, such things are only a matter of Coin, in the end...but it doesn't sound fair, wouldn't you say"
"...What do you want from me? I do anything if it saves Him and our Child"
Angella allowed herself the hint of a smile "Very well then...tell me all about your sisters "Friend"...Catra"
"Why? Why Would she..." then it hit her...this was not about her. She always valued Adora more, trusted her council and treated her like an equal. She wanted proof that Adora had done something so wrong that she could blackmail her into compliance or get rid of the nuisance that was the hybrid at her side. The Queen detested Magi Beasts after having most of her Life devoted to the War with them and hybrids were no exception, so now that the War had entered a long, if brittle, non aggression, Phase, she deemed Catra to be no longer of use
