After a 30 minute walk of us being in denial of the situation, we found our destination. The beach. The sky was turning dark as the sun began to set. Orange and pink shone over the sea.

Me and Sandy shared a mutual look of disbelief before we began to head down onto the sand. The sand was dry and warm, sinking my feet with each step.

Eventually I decided it'd be better to just take my shoes off and embrace the soft texture. Once I did, I turnt my shoe upside down and (almost comically) a stream of sand fell down. I watched in amazement.

I haven't been to a beach since... ever! I'd seen them on TV and in photos but never infront of me.

I wiggled my toes in the sand, feeling as it rubbed against me; both making me itch and soothing me. By now Sandy had given up on waiting for me, she was already at the shore. I could only see the back of her head but I could tell that she was as mesmerised by the scene as I was.

I stopped looking and threw my shoes down onto the sand beside me, then my shirt and eventually I was down to nothing but my underwear. Ofcoarse, Sandy had no idea. She was still lost in the view.

I felt a smile creep onto my face that I just couldn't push away. I didn't think twice about leaving my stuff behind, there's nobody on the beach but an elderly couple. And they aren't even remotely close.

I ran through the sand, my arms flailing and my hair flapping. The breeze was surprisingly warm, unlike how they portray the sunsets in movies.

I dipped one foot into the shallow water and gasped. Its freezing. I let out a shocked giggle. I mean, I didn't think it'd be warm but I didn't expect it to be THIS cold.

Sandy could barely contain her laughter as she watched me struggle. Step after step I got deeper into the sea. I was in up to my waist when I noticed that Sandy had also stripped down. She came into the water too, far faster than I did.

She was in up to her shoulders and looked up at me with a sinister grin. She splashed water up onto my chest. I sucked in a sharp breath through gritted teeth before letting out a chuckle. I splashed her back and she let our a jokingly offended ghasp.

She pounced up out of the water, her hands connecting with my shoulders. Before I could react I was being pushed under. All I felt was the cold water and all I could taste was salt. Alot of salt.

I struggled to the surface, choking uo water but laughing. Sandy looked a bit guilty, so I took advantage. I splashed her with a huge amount of water.

It didn't take long before it turnt into a full fledged water fight. And somehow, the elderly couple from earlier were cheering us along with mutual excitement.

When our arms got tired and our lungs got too full of water we called it quits, clambering back up to the beach. I fell flat onto my back, the sand stuck to me with no signs of ever letting go.

Sandy sat beside me, we watched the last embers of the sunset turn into darkness. I watched the wind play with her soaked cherry red hair. She began to speak;

"So uhh..." I could tell she was about to bring up something awkward. After a while of being in someone's life you just understand what certain tones mean. "I have a question but don't get weird about me asking, okay?"

I sat up, looking at her with concern written all over my face. "You know I wouldn't, what's up?" I tried to reassure but she only seemed to be getting more doubtful.

"Can you tell me who the guy was that you made out with at the party.." She blurted out so fast I could barely catch it. My heart sunk. She wouldn't be mad if she knew but  it's still so weird.
