I wish i could say that I felt nothing but the usually calmness of daily life that day yet i would be lying to myself if i did. The rain like to dribble on my scalp and my eyes could not stop watering. I was with 3 other witches crying and one human appearing to have an internal breakdown. No tears rolled from her face.
That human must've been the bravest out of all of us that day. She took my place and practically saved my life while risking hers. I owe too much to her. When I first met her she was a little difficult and if i may say a little annoying. She was curious. She wanted answers. Yet it was observable that the answers that she searched was ones she wasn't ready for. She slide her body to the door holding onto the wooden door with her last inches of strength she had left. She was short of breath and couldn't help but whimper. Amity was close behind putting a hand unto her friends shoulder. She said some words of what seemed as encouragement and gave Luz a hug.
Amity I never got along with. I knew of her yet hated her parents. They always sought after the Emperor and treated me as a robot with no real feelings. Amity never really was fond of me. I betrayed her ounce of trust and threatened her. I would hate me too. Yet i couldn't help but smile at her sweet comfort to the human.
I heard noises from the far side of me. It was Gus and Willow. Gus was sobbing and Willow attempted to comfort him with tears trickling down the side of her eyes. Both of them were strong too. Despite my actions to them they seem to consider me their friend... weird... Gus he always felt like a brother to me. He often joked around. It was weird seeing him so emotionally unwell. As for Willow, she is strong and always been. From the moment I met her she always reflected of whom I can only wish to be. She is strong, brave, determined, helpful, and kind. Even in her moments of weakness she can still find it in her heart to help those around her. I cant help but to love her.
I looked down at my own hands. They were covered in dirty brown gloves with drips of water coming from them. As for myself, I was weak, a powerless witch who can't master any art. I sucked at everything! My sewing looked like a disaster, my artwork looked like a toddlers doodles, my cooking could poison an army, and every other craft would end in a fire and someone losing their eye. The only thing I was good at was following orders. My only real talent was follow a corrupt tyrant who wanted me dead! I could've ended this whole day of Unity. I was close to him. How could I not tell that he was evil? Am I that stupid?
While all my friends helped comfort one another I sat in the corner quiet. Tears bursting then clogging up once more.
Once everyone agreed that they were able to travel to the Noceda household we got up and followed Luz. It was a short walk but slipping was nearly impossible. The ground was wet and slippery. Amity tripped once on the way and fell scrapping her left knee. We soon arrived at a small but cozy white house. Willow walked up to Luz and gave her a thumbs up!
"Do you guys mind walking up with me?" Luz asked sheepishly. We all nodded. As we walked up the steps my heartbeat increased with the excess of anxiety. yet my mind was numb to it... strange?
knock... knock... knock
We waited a few moments. then a short women appeared. She had Luz's lips and hair texture. She was a stunning older version of her daughter. She wore blue scrubs and had her hair tied back.
Luz ran towards the older women and gave her a warm embrace. Tears had finally rolled down Luz's eyes. The women had tears in her own. Luz broke out of the hug and looked at us than back at her mom again. Amity gave a subtle smile.
"Mama, I wanna introduce you to some of my... friends," Luz said while smiling. Her mother gave us a big warm joyful smile. I tried with the best of my ability to give her one myself yet Amity out beat me with the joyful introduction.
"Why don't you guys come inside. I would love to meet all of you. However, I would hate for any of you to get ill from these weathers," the women said cheerfully. She gestured us inside and once she had let us all in I bowed. Yet she passed me without any clue of the formal gesture. I followed my friends until the sat in a green comfy couch. So I followed their actions and sat next to Gus on the end. He waved at me before Camilla sat down herself and began speaking.
"Hello!" She said in a calm an soft voice. Unlike anything i heard from Belos. I couldn't help but feel my body relax from her soothing voice, "You guys can call me Camilla, I'm Luz's mother. Its nice to meet you all!" Luz raised her hand and Camilla nodded in her direction.
"Heyyy Mommm... So... This might be a long story and a big favor... but... Me and my friends," Luz tried to speak yet her words jumbled like a puzzle of a single colour.
"Let me guess. You guys need a place to stay," Camilla assumed perfectly.
"How did you know!?" Luz spoke stunned.
"No kids come in here crying without a need for shelter," she said looking straight at me and Gus. My brother by spirit didn't appear to be in abnormal tears, His dried up quickly. Was she referring to me? was it that noticeable that I've been crying. I could only hope not. Titian must i be this weak to cry? "What happened if I may ask?" Luz took a deep breath.
"To sum it all up. Theirs this guy named Phillip Whittebane who is like really really really old! Whom is also a witch-hunter and a really bad Uncle," Luz said tilting her head in my direction.
"He wasn't THAT bad of an Uncle," I said quietly. To be frank I was half lying. He was a decent guy when you... didn't get onto his bad side, "He just... had his moments... That's all."
"okay... right... So Phillip came to the demon realm and somehow convince everyone there to elect him as their new ruler and Emperor. So they did. He created this coven system which would honestly be too difficult to explain but long story short you had to get this tattoo called a sigil on your arm," Luz suddenly turned to me, "Can you show her." I nodded. I rolled up my sleeve to reveal a design in my wrist. a sigil. "The sigils were designed to limit magic. So Phillip who renamed himself Belos soon required everyone to get one. His plan was too kill everyone who had a sigil." Her mom had a visual concern expression on her face. Amity budded in
"When that day came he was stopped by this... child god? He calls himself the Collector. He killed Belos and started destroying our home. Running through the portal was our only shot at making it out alive. Yet the portal closed on us," Amity closed us out. Camilla nodded.
"You guys need rest."
And that was it. She shooed us to bed. Me, Gus, and Luz slept on the couches, V was downstairs and the rest of the girls were on the bunk beds for the time being. But gosh, It was hard to sleep.
