3rd POV
“That's impossible…” Lying on the ground in a pool of his own ichor, the god looked up in fear at the figure before him. “A mortal shouldn't be this powerful, no matter their lineage. Who… are you?”
Never had he thought that he would feel this sort of emotion to a mortal, of all things. However, he couldn't reign back the fear within him. As barely audible footsteps got closer, his heart started hammering against his chest quicker than before.
His opponent was just that dangerous.
The person didn't respond as he made his way towards the fallen god.
The god could only lay helplessly on the ground as a shadow cast over him. He had heard rumours over the past year that some gods had suddenly started fading, but even he who was known as the god of knowledge had no clue on the cause.
After all, there was no traces left behind by the faded gods.
‘So all those fadings… was caused by him…’
That conclusion was only natural. He, who has the ability to overpower gods, was the most likely suspect.
“You… monster…” The god groaned from the ground as he glared at the figure.
Still, the god had no idea what power the boy possessed. He rarely showed his cards, and even when he did show some of the abilities he had, the god couldn't think of any being that had all that power. The only being that could possibly possess was the Creator, the first Being.
Furthermore, this person was still very young, his strength would only get stronger.
“Answer me… what is your purpose for doing this? You came all of a sudden and mercilessly slayed the gods and whoever stood in your way.” He spoke with barely controlled anger, even as he was nearing his end.
“...There's no particular reason.” All he heard was a monotone voice.
The last thing he saw as the blade severed his neck was a pair of emotionless golden eyes.
Golden energy emerged from the fallen God and was absorbed by the figure who had taken a knee to take a look at the corpse.
“Egyptian God Thoth, this isn't the end for you.” Hovering his hand above the corpse of the God, the person spoke in monotone voice. “I still have use of you. You will be a useful tool.”
??? POV
Are human beings truly equal?
“Mr Jackson.” The teacher, Mr Brunner who was leading the class's museum tour, looked at the boy beside me. “Perhaps you'll tell us what this picture represents?”
I silently watch the scene play out from the back of the group.
These days, everywhere we go, there's talk about the fight for equality. Children are being taught that people are born equal.
He pointed towards one of the pictures on the stele. Taking a look at the carving, the answer was rather obvious.
“Um… that's Kronos eating his kids, right?” The boy beside me answered while scratching his head.
“Yes,” Not satisfied with the answer, Mr Brunner urged further. “And he did it because…”
“Well… Kronos was the king god, and-”
“God?” Mr Brunner asked.
“Titan.” The boy hastily corrected himself. “And… he didn't trust his kids, who were the gods. So, um, Kronos ate them, right? But his wife hid baby Zeus, and gave Kronos a rock to eat instead. And later, when Zeus grew up, he tricked his dash, Kronos, into barfing up his brothers and sister, and so there was this big fight between the gods and the Titans and the gods won.”
