A boy nobody knows.

As usual, I was traveling by rooftop. I jumped from one to another. There was this one rooftop, that I would often sit on and just look at the sky on, but today, I couldn't do that, so I jumped over it. When I got back to the base, my boss looked at me and said;

"Well, if it isn't the most mysterious man here. You know... They caught you on the news last night. They described you as some hippie."

When I heard this, I stopped walking, and turned to look at my boss. When I did, he showed me his phone. When I saw the news video, I got surprised and said;

"I am not just some hippie... They're still after me... Even after five years? I don't kill in the open anymore. They don't even find the victims. That, or the 'clean up crew' is shit."

My boss then burst out laughing and his assistant gave a small laugh. I looked at the two not smiling and then thought 'You know what? These two aren't worth it today.' and walked back to my dorm. When I got there, my partner was already back, so I put on my black gloves, and walked inside. When he saw me, he said;

"Hey, Wolf. You going out to the roof tonight?"

I then closed the door behind me and fixed my uniform. I then looked at him and said;

"Can't. Apparently I'm needed this week, so I have to go train my ass off at the duel ring... Not that I need the training. I can just touch them, and they die, but boss knows best."

My partner then turned on the TV and said;

"Yeah, well... Anyway, Wolf, you're on TV. Something about a hippie. I don't really know, but do they know you're fifteen? You could just be a goth teenager. They don't know you."

I then threw a apple at him and went in my room. When I did, my partner got up and came inside too. I looked at him, and then tore up a floorboard. When I did, he dropped the Apple. I then pulled a box out of the floor. I then threw the Apple out my window and opened the box. Inside it, was a knife with a Ruby on the handle. I put it in my scabbard and then put the box inside the floor again, and put the boards back and stood up. My partner then slapped me in the back of the head and said;

"Where did that come from? Sorry, but sane people don't hide knives in the floor. We put them in the cases like the rest of the people."

I looked at him and said;

"John, if you don't shut the fuck up, your soul will be one of those trapped inside this Ruby."

My partner smirked and then leaned on the door frame and said;

"Well, at least we know why you're called 'The Ruby wolf' now. Unlike the rest of us, you were called that. We were given names... You were given a knife. It's weird isn't it...?"

I then flipped the knife in the air and caught it. When I did, my partner backed up and said;

"I'll take that as a hint to shut my gob now. I'll see you around, Lobo."

He then ruffled my hair and walked out of my room, closing the door. I looked at the door silently debating on if I should ask about what he just called me, but I just stood there in silence. Silence that I haven't heard in a while. It was quiet... Maybe too quiet. Just then, my worst fear came true, I heard the loud scream of my boss. When I did, I grabbed my grappling hook and jumped out my window. I then shot the hook to the roof of my building, and swung until I saw my boss, and then let myself fall. When I got there though, it was too late... He was laying there with a gunshot wound. He always said, if he got injured, to not help him, so I pushed people out of my way, and when I got to him, I fell on my knees next to him. When my boss saw me, he grabbed my hand and said;

"The Ruby wolf... Will prevail over all. Will you promise me that you will be good for your next boss, son? Please promise me that much."

I looked down at him with tears in my eyes and said;

"B-boss, no! NO! We- we can still save you... Come on... Please don't give up on us now... We- no... I need you... Please..."

My boss then squeezed my hand and said;

"You've been taught all there is to know... Don't let it all go to waste on a old man like me."

He then started to take off my glove, but I pulled my hand away and said;

"No, boss, no! Please... We can still save you... You don't have to go... You don't have to die... You still have a purpose on this planet... It may be shitty, but you're one of the damn good people on it who made it tolerable for me. Don't leave me here like this today... Please."

My boss then grabbed my hand again and took my glove off me and said;

"I'll only die a painful death. You can make the pain stop with just a touch... Please do it. Even if it is just for me to leave you."

With tears going down my face, I grabbed his hand back with the ungloved hand, and watched as the light went out in his eyes. When he was fully dead, everyone around me knealed and put their hats to their hearts, but I started crying harder, and pulled my boss into a hug, crying into his shoulder. When my partner got to me, he carefully put my glove back on me. I then punched him in the face, hard, and shot my grappling hook up to another roof and got thrown to it. When I got to it, I tripped over my own feet and fell on my knees. I then looked up and the sun was going down. Just then, a girl that I used to talk to, grappled to me and said;

"Hey. You're The Ruby wolf, right?"

She then leaned on the side on the roof and pulled out a book. I looked up at her, and she seemed to be in her mid thirties. I then looked back down at the floor and said;

"What does my name matter? I killed the only person who's ever shown me kindness... I'm... I'm a monster... I don't... Who even are you?"

The girl then smiled and said;

"They call me, The Sapphire falcon, but you can call me Jess... Or Jessie. Or you pick."

I looked at her and stood up. She then put the book away and held out her hand. When I grabbed her hand, all my sorrows, seemed to disappear. I backed away from her and said;

"Well... Jess... Uhm... What did you want?"

She smiled at me and said;

"Wolf, I used to have a son. I understand how you feel. I had to get rid of my son, so that he wouldn't be thrown into this program like we were. Most parents can get rid of their kids, but for some reason, Mary kept you here. I never asked for her reasoning, but I felt like it was a good reason. You don't need to feel like the world is against you, it's not, after all."

I then hugged her tightly and said;

"Thank you, Jess, but we should get back to the base now. The others will be worried... But.. Thank you, Jessica. You just made my life."
