It had been another chaotic day in Angel Grove for Billy Cranston. He and his friends volunteered to construct a shelter for the homeless. During the middle of their charity work, trouble loomed for the Power Rangers. Rita and Zedd used their magic to create a monster out of a brick wall known as Brick Bully. With its ability to transform a person or object into bricks, the creature strived to convert anything its sees to resemble its own kind. Although his teammates fell prey, only he along with newcomer Katherine remain unaffected by Brick Bully's spell. Despite the setback, the two rangers pushed through by strategizing a game plan that allowed for the monster to let his guard down enough to meet its demise.
As the sun prepared to set, Billy utilized the remainder of his free time testing out the kinks from his latest invention. His garage had been filled with a plethora of electronic gadgetry, power tools, and a lab table containing supplies of chemical equipment. Compared to most kids his age, the Blue Ranger was gifted for his intellectual nature and creative mind. Utilizing his talent to the fullest, he would devise a state of the art technology to enhance the rangers' durability during combat. For two years, he endured some hardships both on the field and in his personal life. An overload from the power grid resulted in the destruction of his dino coins, rendering his team's inability to activate their ranger powers. Not only that, he had to witness the downfall of the Thunderzords as they piled on top of one another. To put the cherry on top, four of his childhood friends who would also become Power Rangers departed Angel Grove to pursue personal ventures outside the call of duty.
When it came to his interaction with his teammates, very few around him could comprehend his jargon. At one point, Trini Kwan served as his translator in deciphering his techno babble to their peers. His tech savvy prowess proved valuable to the team in their efforts to combat against the dark forces endangering their world. As he learned to adapt as a Power Ranger, this enhanced Billy's confidence physically and mentally.
"Whew, that finally did it," he mumbled. Satisfied by the result of his latest experiment, Billy slid his goggles upward to his forehead.
"How's it going, Billy?" Approaching from the driveway, Katherine entered the garage to check up on her friend.
"Hi Kat, I wasn't expecting any visitors today," he replied.
"I was just taking a stroll down the neighborhood before it got dark. I'm still trying to adjust to the time zone around here," said Katherine.
"I can't imagine what it feels like moving far away from home, especially having lived here for most of my life," Billy sympathized.
"Quite honestly, I couldn't believe it. My father and I wanted to be really close to my relatives so we agreed to move north. Lord and behold," the Pink Ranger added as much detail as possible.
"Things may be crazy over here in Angel Grove. If you look past that, you can appreciate the kinds of wonderful people working together to breathe life into the community," Billy continued to uplift her with some bits of positivity.
"Speaking of community, I just wanted to thank you for your help. I'm really hoping this spreads awareness for folks who are looking for a place to shelter," Katherine took this time to compliment him for volunteering.
"It was a collaborative effort, and I'm grateful to be part of it," said Billy, sliding his goggles upward to his forehead. Katherine's eyes sparkled with fascination over the science equipment displayed throughout the garage.
"Incredible," she reacted while continuing to observe her surroundings. She stumbled into a gold trophy case which contained a first place prize of a project he co-constructed with Willie.
"Yeah, the project almost backfired but a professor that contested the event had us take first place," Billy explained. "I hope you don't mind me asking. How have you enjoyed Angel Grove so far?"
