Eric POV

It happened again...

After about a day of debating about it in my head, I finally decided to stop being such a pussy and just go. Having Grace drop me off a few blocks away, I gradually made my way up to the café, rehearsing in my head what I would say, or how I'd react when I got there.

The plan was to just walk in and act casual. There was no reason why I couldn't just show up. I may have never been inside before, but could anyone really call me out on it. I could care less what anybody else at the shop would say. Anyone who gave me shit about it later would easily regret it. There was really only one person to watch out for.

Lucas made everything so complicated.

Here's the revised version:

As I arrived, I let out a low sigh and walked right in. The small bell above the door chimed, catching the attention of the twerp at the counter. The moment he saw me, his eyes widened in panic. He didn't even wait for me to get closer before bolting to the back.

"Uh, where are you going Vince?" Lucas asked him as the twerp ran past him.

Abandoned by his friend, Lucas was the only one left at the front counter to take my order.

"What can I get you?" He asked me, without realizing who he was talking to.

Busy on his phone, Lucas could care less who had just stepped in to order something. It pretty much threw me off guard and I completely forgot what to say.

"Ahem." I waited until he looked up to me, but regretted doing it as soon as he glared back at me.

"Okay," he started to laugh, looking around the room as if he had been set up or something, "this is beginning to get a little old. Now you're bugging me at work too?"

"What," I blurted, trying to clear my throat. "I didn't come here to see you."

"Sure." He rolled his eyes. "Then what did you come in here for?"

"I came here for..." My mind suddenly went blank, and running out of time, I glanced over at the counter and picked out the first thing I saw. "I came for that cupcake."

"So you came all the way down here, from your fancy home across town, for this cupcake?"

YOU BASTARD!

Giving up, I simply nodded and bought the damn thing. I hated sweets, but I had no choice. Just as he was about to hand me the cupcake, he had the nerve to pull it out of my hand and take a huge bite out of it.

"Enjoy!" He laughed, handing it to me.

At that point, I was much too defeated to do anything about it. I took it and headed towards the back. Not before running into some clumsy kid though.

"Oh, pardon me..." He seemed to freeze up when he noticed who he had bumped into, but not out of fear like most people. Looking over at Lucas just before looking back at me, he turned around and headed straight out the door. "I'll uh, see you later Lucas."

"Sure thing, Will." Lucas didn't seem to think much of it, so neither did I.

It seemed like forever waiting for Lucas to come out of the store. The sky had already turned dark, and the winds had begun to pick up. He didn't seem surprised to find me waiting for him, but he also didn't think twice before passing by me and heading home.

"I'm not trying to follow you," I finally had to make it clear.

"Course you're not," Lucas replied, still not turning back to look at me, "you just happen to live in the same direction as I do, right?"

"I'm serious," I replied, knowing I wasn't fooling anyone. "Those thugs from the other day are still out here. I wouldn't be surprised if they came after you. I just want to get them first."

"That's too bad," Lucas finally responded, laughing to himself.

"What? Why?"

"It's too bad that's the only reason you're walking me home," he began to tease me again, only this time grabbing a hold of my arm. "It's great that you're worried about me, but I could really use some company tonight too you know."

Once again, I found myself too weak to react or fight back. He winked at me, pulling me aside, taking me back to his place. That's probably when I realized that there was no use fighting it.

I was really beginning to fall for this guy.
