According to my watch, we had been walking for ninety minutes when we came upon a deep hole. I stashed the compass in my trouser pocket.

'Wait, Pacifica.'

I took my backpack off, placing the map in one of the side pockets. I picked up a rock and threw it down the hole, counting the seconds before I heard the impact.

'About thirty meters deep. Hand me the rope, a carabiner and a climbing cam from my backpack,' I said.

Pacifica handed me the items. I secured the rope to a carabiner, attached it to the climbing cam and wedged the latter between two rock fissures. I tugged the rope before picking up my backpack.

'I'm going down first. Give me a minute before following. I want to make sure that everything's secure,' I advised, fastening the flashlight to my belt. I went over the edge. A minute passed and I could feel Pacifica's weight on the rope. Good girl.

'It's so dark down there. It feels like we are climbing down into a pit,' Pacifica whispered.

We reached the bottom without incident. I took the compass out of my trouser pocket.

'I don't want to take my backpack off. The map is in the left side pocket. Please get it for me.' I consulted it and headed off in the correct direction. Ford had mapped the cave well. We walked for what felt like hours before coming to a cavern filled with stalagmites and stalactites. A dark pool of water glistened in the light of my torch.

'Oh my God, they're so beautiful!' Pacifica exclaimed.

'I know, right. I've only ever seen them in magazine pictures, but to see them in person is so much better,' I said, and yawned.

'I'm getting tired, and I think it is already night-time. Let's set up camp here. I don't see any firewood nearby, but I brought a lamp along. What do we have that we can eat, Pacifica?'

She took off her backpack, looking for anything edible.

'I have some blueberries and leftover steak. I don't know about you, but I want to have some steak.'

'The steak it is,' I agreed.

'What a day. We'll have to wake up early and find the exit. Let's go to sleep.'

'You're right. I'm tired anyway. Goodnight my little nerd,' Pacifica said.

'Goodnight, Pacifica.'

We fell asleep quickly.

Mable was in a cave. She was looking for Dipper.

'Dipper, where are you?'

She walked down a narrow cave. It was so dark that she couldn't see her hand in front of her face. A demonic voice echoed off the rock walls.

'Now I will finally kill you, every last Pine that ever lived,' the voice said.

She looked around the corner.

'Bill Cipher?'

'Mabel, follow the plan. Run, Mabel, run!' her brother yelled.

Bill killed Dipper without remorse.

'No!' Mabel screamed.

'You're next,' Bill warned.

She woke up.

'Dipper!' she screamed.

Ford was at her side in an instant.

'What's wrong, Mabel?' he enquired.
