The weeks following Pacifica's kidnapping was torture. I was very depressed and wouldn't leave my room. I ate little and refused to speak to anyone, least of all my sister who shared a room with me. Everyone was genuinely concerned about my mental health.

'Gruncle Ford, we have to do something to help Dipper. He looks very pale and has grown thin. He hardly eats anything and refuses to speak to me,' Mabel said.

'I'm concerned too. We are doing our best to find Pacifica but have had no luck. Old man McGucket has agreed to help me build the weapon. We have been occupied with the task for the last few weeks. Our main priority though, is to get that damn crystal back,' Ford said.

'I have no idea how we are going to do that.' Mabel sighed and left Ford. She went upstairs to see if she could convince Dipper to have some dinner.

Later that same night while everyone was asleep, I sat upright in my bed. I knew sleep would evade me. I decided to go down to the lab to visit Wendy. Mabel watched me leave the room and followed me downstairs. I walked up to the tube that held the girl I had loved for the past two years. Wendy looked as if she had simply gone to sleep.

'Hey Wendy, I know you can't hear me, but I feel you are the only person I can talk to right now,' I said and burst into tears. 'I miss Pacifica so much Wendy. I don't know what I'm feeling. I've lost my best friend and the last thing I said to her was that she hadn't changed at all. I regret everything I said and now I might never see her again,' I sobbed. 'I hate Bill, I hate myself! I hate that those words ever came out of my mouth. I'm the worst person on planet earth. I don't know what to do, Wendy. She must hate me now.'

Mabel entered the room.

'Dipper, she would never hate you.' I ran to her, and she hugged me. 'It is okay, Dipper. I'm here for you.'

'I miss Pacifica so much, Mabel.'

'I know. I miss her too. She's my friend too.'

'I regret what I said to her.'

'Pacifica knows that it was a misunderstanding. We will find her, I promise.'

I felt better and lifted my head from her shoulder.

'There, there Dipper.' She patted me on the back.

'Thanks for being there for me, Mabel.'

'Of course, you're my brother. I think we should both get some sleep. Things will look better in the morning. Promise me that you'll try to eat something. Pacifica would not want to see you this way.'

I nodded.

Arm in arm we trudged up the stairs and got into our beds. For the first time since Bill had kidnapped Pacifica, I slept soundly.

On the island, in the Arctic Ocean near the coast of Alaska, Preston and Pacifica came up with ideas on how to send the island's coordinates to the Mystery Shack.

'The foolish deal I made with Bill involves me helping him to build a machine. I don't know what it's supposed to do. He keeps his cards close to his chest. As the crystal can restore his powers, I can only imagine that the machine will stabilise the crystal's power. We cannot allow this to happen. The Pine family need to know what Bill is up to. Pacifica, we have to get the coordinates to them.'

'Have you been on this island the entire time you were working for Bill?'

'Yes, I have. It's not been easy.'

'So, how will we communicate with them? Is there a telephone or computer of some sort we can use? If there is, we can simply email the coordinates to them.' She recited the Mystery Shack's email from memory.

'Yes, there is a supercomputer in the basement. I studied geography, computer science and engineering in college so I know my stuff.'

'I never knew that.'

'Well, we didn't really spend time together as father and daughter.'

'Unfortunately, no we didn't.'

'I'm so sorry. I realise I have a lot to make up for.'

'It's ok, we can spend time together when we get back.'

'Unfortunately, we can't.'

'Why not, Father?'

'Don't you remember? I was arrested for abusing you and I'm an escapee. I broke out of prison with the help of Bill Cypher and the story I told you, won't win the judges over. Even though I regret hitting you, it's still an awful crime.'

'I can always visit you in prison.'

'I would appreciate that.'

Bill walked into the room. The key clicked in the lock, and he swung the heavy door open. He grabbed Preston and threw him out. The door clanged shut and Bill turned the key.

'It's time to work, boy.'

'Alright Bill, but please leave Pacifica alone,' Preston moaned.

They left Pacifica alone in the jail cell and walked away. Preston began working on the device.

'We still need a few parts for the machine. I'll be back before you know it. Keep working. You know what will happen to your daughter if you don't,' Bill warned.

Preston used the opportunity to log into the supercomputer. He sent the coordinates to the Mystery Shack's email address and deleted any evidence of it.

'I hope this works,' Preston said.

Meanwhile, in the Mystery Shack Ford and old man McGucket were working on the weapon. A notification pinged on Ford's computer.

'Don't worry Fiddleford, I'll get it,' Ford said and walked over. Ford knew old man McGucket hated the nickname. He could feel McGucket's eyes boring a hole in his back. Ford smiled.

An email from an unknown address sat in the inbox. He opened it and his eyes widened. 77°28'23.1"N 142°30'45.0"W send help- Pacifica.

'My God! Fiddleford, get everyone down here quick! Candy and Grenda too.'
