Chapter 4

It was a day like any other – Supreme once again attacked Paris, sending one of his trusted servants. He spread terror, which I, along with the resistance, tried to stop. The fight wasn't much of a challenge for us, as our opponent turned out to be the new holder of the Bee Miraculous. Since I had once been a member of that organization, I knew the identity of every holder. In the past, this role belonged to Audrey Bourgeois, so I assumed her daughter, Chloé, had taken over. I didn't understand Supreme's decision to send a rookie, but I was looking forward to an easy win. Although Chloé was a beginner, she performed well in her new role, which made the battle last longer than I had initially expected. In the end, we won – Ladybug and Paw Noir pinned her to the ground. I decided to talk to the girl, offering her to join the resistance. Just as I was about to discuss it with her, despite Ladybug's disapproving expression, a pink mist suddenly started to rise around me, or rather – a ruby one. I tried to cut through it with my sword hidden in my cane, but I couldn't disperse it in any way – on the contrary, it grew thicker and thicker, until I lost sight of my companions completely. When the mist cleared, I found myself in the middle of a narrow alley. I transformed back, wanting to consult the whole situation with Nooroo, but suddenly I was caught by a jojo and thrown onto a roof. When I raised my head, I saw two heroes in Ladybug and Chat Noir costumes, ready to fight. I opened my mouth to somehow defend myself when I heard the word: "Gabriel?" It froze me enough that I paused for a moment. A moment later, I was freed and found out that there is another version of me, who is also a hero – although wearing a different Miraculous.

H: That's it. I guess I wasn't very helpful.

L: That's not true. I'd even say you've clarified things even more.

H: Really?

L: Yes. Thanks to your story, we can be sure that we have only two enemies instead of three. The mist you mentioned is the same one the villain from our world – Voyager – used, right, Kitty?

Ladybug was met with silence. She turned toward her partner, who looked terrified. His eyes were wide open, and his breathing suddenly quickened.

L: Chat?

CN: "It can't be..." – he whispered, stepping back until he lost his balance and fell.

He knelt, clutching his head, trying to control his breath. Terrified, Ladybug rushed to him, wanting to understand what was happening, but when she reached out her hand to calm him, she was suddenly pushed away. Chat Noir looked at her with eyes full of hatred.

CN: Don't you dare touch me, after everything you did!

L: "Chat... what do you mean?" – her voice trembled.

CN: "You lied to me! Right to my face! You told me my father was a hero, that he died fighting Monarch, but he... he..." His voice cracked. He couldn't bring himself to say the words. He squeezed his eyes shut, and tears began to stream down his cheeks. He just wanted it all to be a bad dream.

L: A... Adrien? Her eyes widened, her hand covering her mouth. She couldn't believe that her boyfriend had been her partner all this time.

The adults, confused by the teenagers' behavior, watched from a distance, intervening only when necessary.

L: I... I... I'm sorry, but your father, he...

CN: Don't hide behind him, he's dead, no matter what he told you, you didn't have to listen to him!
