Hey, I'm Xena. There's one thing you should know about me and that is, I'm...cursed. I'll tell
you how it happened and how I found out.Today was a warm, sunny afternoon and I had arrived at my favourite park with my mom and my younger cousin. I could feel a cool, gentle breeze brush against my face. I ran off to the swings, the best part of the playground. My mom walked over to a nearby bench and sat down, putting my younger cousin's seat onto the ground. I jumped onto the swing and smiled as I went back and forth. Eventually, I was becoming tired so I decided to ask my mom to give me a push.
"Mom!" I shouted. "Can you give me a push?"
My mom continued rocking my cousin. She
seemed to be zoned out. I guess she was deep in thought. I hopped off the swing. Suddenly, I could feel a strong surge of energy in the air. I looked over. Beside the playground there was a path that lead over to what seemed to be a woods."Huh?" I wondered. "What is that? I've never seen it before. Where does it lead to?"
I glanced over at my mom, who didn't seem to be paying any attention to me.
"No harm in having a quick look, right?" I skipped over and started walking on the trail.
Everything seemed fine in the first minute or so. I was a little frightened though, as I had never I've never seen this place before.
Suddenly, everything went pitch black. I didn't know what had happened, but soon enough, I fell unconscious.
I had no clue how much time had passed, but I had finally woken up. My vision was slightly blurred, but I could see my mom. "M-mom...?" I said aloud.
"You're alright!" my mom cried as she pulled me closer to her. She looked exhausted and I
could see a few scars and bruises on her face.
"What happened?" I groaned.
"So you don't remember, huh?" my mom questioned.
"No..." I replied.
"Here, I'll explain the whole situation to you," she said. "Want some soup first? I nodded my
head.
"Alright, I'll be back," my mom told me as she headed to the kitchen.
I didn't know what she was on about. What did she mean when she says she'll explain the
whole situation to me? I haven't had the slightest idea. I wasn't feeling so great either, my body
felt pretty weak. I really needed an explanation.
Not too long after, my mom walked into the room with two bowls of steaming, fresh soup.
Yum! I grabbed my spoon out of her hand and started eating. Oh how I loved food!
"Looks like you like it," my mom chuckled. "Well, we aren't here to talk about food as much
as I'd like to. I have something real important to explain to you." Her face changed from a smile
to a stern look just like that. Whatever she was going to tell me, I didn't want to hear it.
"This is gonna be a lot to take in, I don't know how to put it, but that you are simply under a
curse," she muttered.
I blinked a few times. "Say what now?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. A curse? Me?
No way. This had to be a joke, I thought. Curses aren't real...are they?
"A curse," she repeated. "I know you may think I'm crazy," she replied, her pale blue eyes
