"Hi, Mina Unnie..."
Tzuyu managed to say, the room falling into a deafening silence as the eyes of the two most quiet members fixated on each other, sensing the tension, Sana broke her hug and left space for them.
They continued to stare at each other, no expression or word passing between them, the tension thickening the air. It felt like hours could pass with no change, but to the astonishment of the others, Mina's gaze softened into a sincere smile, and words finally came out of her mouth.
"Hi, Tzuyu-ah."
"I'm happy to see you," Tzuyu replied with a soft smile.
"Me too, but-" Mina began, but was cut off by the Maknae. "But we have to talk," she said firmly, and in response, Mina simply nodded, offering a comforting gaze. "Come to my room," Tzuyu instructed, already heading in that direction. She then turned to her other friend. "You too, Chaeyoung, come with us." With that, she resumed her steps, with Mina following closely behind.
Before standing up, Chaeyoung glanced at their other friends still in the room, a horrified expression on her face as she muttered a question. "What did I do?" she asked, but received only shrugs in response. With a little squeal, she hurried off to her own room.
As Chaeyoung entered the room she shared with Tzuyu, she found her two friends seated on opposite beds, avoiding each other's gaze. Taking a seat on the chair positioned between them, she inquired, "Okay, why am I here?"
However, her question was momentarily ignored as Tzuyu's voice broke the silence. "Mina Unnie, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I understand that you were just trying to protect me."
"No, Tzuyu, I'm the one who should apologize," Mina began with a regretful tone. "I know I was trying to protect you, but I acted in a bad way and hurted your feelings."
Flashback to a month ago.
Tzuyu scrolled through her emails, sifting through important notifications and deleting spam when she stumbled upon an email with a peculiar content. It read:
"We are very sorry to hear that, Ms. Chou. However, we would like to inform you that our offer would still be on the table, and if it is not possible at this moment, we would love to work with you in the future.
Best regards, Mr. Park"
Curiosity piqued, Tzuyu pondered over what this could be about and why she hadn't been informed. She decided to call her manager to inquire further.
Once her manager picked up the phone, Tzuyu inquired, "Hi Unnie, I was just checking my emails when I noticed one from GK Studios saying that apparently I rejected something, but I don't remember anything about it. Do you know what this is about?"
"Ehh? Don't you remember? It's about the movie," her manager replied.
"Nothing comes to my mind. Could you elaborate, please?" Tzuyu pressed, still clueless.
"Hahaha, your memory is being short for someone so young," her manager joked. "That's the project from Director Park, the one they wanted you as the main character. It's the one Mina said she wanted to tell you as a surprise."
Many people didn't know, but one of Tzuyu's dreams was to become an actress. She had been working tirelessly towards this goal, from start taking acting classes years ago to spending sleepless nights rehearsing for auditions in recent months. Despite her efforts, she hadn't yet had the opportunity to showcase her talent on screen.
"Mina unnie?" Tzuyu echoed, even more confused this time.
"Yes, Mina called me days after that, telling me you didn't want to take the offer because you weren't ready," her manager stated through the phone.
