Andy was already waiting for her when she stepped out of the school door. A hug, a quick kiss to greet her. Nothing really special about that, never had been. But when she felt his warmth today, his smell and his skin on hers. Tasting him when their lips touched. The desire. It came over her like a wave. She pressed him against her, kissed him again, that feeling. Her teeth tingled. The apple flashed briefly before her eyes and it was with great reluctance that she let go of Andy.
He grinned.
"Was it that bad in there today?"
"Boring," she played with a strand of hair, trying to distract herself. Not to think of it. "But... Madd just told me you got your license. Why don't I know about it yet?" she asked in mock indignation, leaning against his arm. So soft, so warm. Her mouth watered. Don't think about it, that just isn't normal!"You know about this? My secret plans, all ruined." A horrified expression, but his grin was already peeking through. "How does Madd know about this? I've gone to a lot of trouble to make sure no one finds out beforehand."
"Your driving instructor is Madd's uncle and he was like 'hmm, Madd, you know, that one name sounds familiar'. Come on, they even have the same surname, didn't you know that?" His taste on her lips. His smell, overpowering everything.
Andy looked disheartened. "I've really lost it."
Katie stretched and tousled his hair. "You'll never change, little Andy." He shook his head, trying to get his hair out of his face. "Why all the mystery anyway?"
He looked to the side. Then he turned his head and looked deep into her eyes. "A surprise," he whispered, barely audible. "Come."And he led Katie past the bike racks, through the hedges that surrounded the school grounds. On the other side, on the sidewalk of the road, there was a small, somewhat battered old car.
"Nothing big, just the first car, what can you expect." He grinned. "But it means I can drive wherever I want now." His grin widened even more.
Katie walked around the vehicle in amazement. "This is completely crazy," she muttered. "And you just turn up with a car and expect me to just take it in my stride?" she said, playfully punching him in the side.
Andy skillfully dodged and casually tossed his hair out of his forehead with a movement of his head. "Of course, it happens to me every day. Just yesterday, my hamster drove up to my house in a brand new cabrio."
"You don't even have a hamster."
"That's why I was so surprised." He grinned even wider and got in on the driver's side.
"Do you want to come along now or are you waiting for the next hamster?"
"I wouldn't mind either, but I don't believe in your strange hamster either. And this thing actually drives?"
"Of course, I pulled it out of the swamp myself, that's just me."
"That's just the way you are," laughed Katie and jumped in.
