'Life is beautiful. You have to be thankful that we are living.
Wherever you look is beauty. I know about the bad things, but I look for the good things."
— Alice Herz-Sommer.

I was nervous, terrified might've been a better word for it. Terrified, but somewhat excited.
After four years of working getting into the mind of terrorists from behind a screen in an office, I was excited to finally be able to get into the action and travel from looking at the scenes from behind the screen to actually being there and getting inside of a killers head from their point of view.

I held the box full of my things for my desk under my right arm and tugged my black blazer to straighten it out. I looked down at the crisp, fresh badge I had been given since my transfer to the B.A.U.
'Special Agent Y.N. L.N., Behavioral Analysis Unit. Agent ID #17392786'

I took a deep breath, hoisted my box up further, and pressed the sixth elevator button for the floor to the B.A.U.

The elevator doors opened with a crisp 'Ding!' and I stepped out, excited to be meeting the people who's lives would be trusted to take care of mine and mine of theirs for the foreseeable future.
I had been instructed to meet with an Aaron Hotchner before doing anything else, and so I stepped from the hallway into the main room which had many cubicles on the floor, most seeming to be unoccupied or undecorated.
Compared to my desk back at my old unit, these desks seemed to not be used for very much at all, except for a slight few that I could pick out.
One is particular was covered with books, pens, and paper, this one stood out to me not only because it seemed to be the only one lacking a computer, but it also seemed to be one of the only ones that had someone at it at this moment.
From where I was standing, I could only see the back of his head, which held a mop of light brown hair that gave me the impression he left a boy band to join the F.B.I.
I quickly glanced around to get a feel of the area before I headed into the office I was directed to at the front desk.
As I walked past the One Direction reject, I noticed a larger bald man with a goatee and mustache and a young thin blonde woman approached his desk. The man sat on the edge of One Directions desk, and they began speaking quietly. All while staring a hole into me and my poor box.

Opening the door to the office labeled 'Aaron Hotchner' I stepped inside.
Sitting at a large desk sat a large man with graying hair. His large eyebrows seemed like they had been forever furrowed but he seemed sweet under it all, like the whole deadly looking teddy bear thing.
Upon my entering, he stood up and stuck his hand out in my direction.

"Aaron Hotchner. You must be Y.N. It's nice to be able to meet you. I hope the partnership between you and this team work wonderfully. "

He didn't smile throughout the entire thing, but I took his hand and shook it smiling at him.

"I'm sure it will!! I'm excited to meet everyone else. I hope my abilities will be an asset to the team."

I smiled at him again and he dismissed me, pointing me to my desk and allowing myself to set up my things.
My desk, directly next to Mr. Direction, had nothing on it but a laptop for my work use.
I placed my box on the top of the desk and began to unpack it.
Taking my multiple potted plants and succulents out of the box I placed them around the desk to make it look a little brighter.
Taking the rest of the objects out of the desk, my trinkets of various shapes, sizes, and colors, I placed them all around the empty spots on my desk, making the empty space less empty.

Noticing me doing this, the boy band wannabe turned to me and began watching. After about two minutes of watching he spoke up.

"You know, there was a study conducted that proved people working in difficult jobs and environments tend to try to distract themselves with objects they perceive to bring happiness."

Profilers.

I turned to him,
"Is that why yours is covered with books? Read a lot?"

He smiled, a half crooked, goofy smile but a smile that was genuine.
"Something like that," He stuck out his hand for me to grab, "Reid. Spencer Reid, and you must be Y.N."

I must've seen shocked at the fact that he already knew my name because he started up again.
"Garcia filled us in on you. Counter terrorism, must've seen all sorts of stuff doing that."

Garcia was a name I had heard before, a name cc'd on all my emails back and forth between the B.A.U regarding my transfer.
She had introduced herself as their technical analyst in the emails.

As I began to tell Reid about some of the wildest things I had seen working in counterterrorism, the man and woman from before followed by a dark haired woman and a much older man with a thick mustache approached Spencer and I and began to also introduce themselves.

"There she is!! Woman of the hour," The bald man smiled at me, he was toned, built, and obviously got a lot of attention from women, "Derek Morgan at your service, you need anything you let me know, anything at all."

I smiled at him and nodded as I turned my attention to the dark haired woman who had followed him over. She was gorgeous her dark hair framing her face which was striking and somewhat motherly.

"Emily," She smiled bringing me in for a hug, "It's so good to finally meet you. Maybe now Garcia and Reid will stop freaking out over it "
She leaned closer to my ear,
"They've been dying to figure all they can about you, geniuses both of them."

She pulled away and faced me towards the blonde woman, who was more soft looking than Emily but still had the same motherly charm.

"Jennifer Jareau, but you can call me JJ. It's what all my friends call me."
She smiled and winked playfully, as she too grabbed me for a light embrace.

The last to introduce themselves was the older man.
Rossi. I had known about Rossi, I had all his books at home and had read them all over and over again especially lately to prepare myself for the life of a profiler.

"Mr. Rossi, sir it's an honor." I smiled at him and reached my hand out, which he took.

"Just Rossi is fine," He smiled, giving me a pat on the back, most likely his attempt at being friendly with hugs like Jennifer and Emily had done, but it in a way that made it a little less casual.

"I see you've already met our resident doctor,"
Morgan laughed.

"Doctor?"
I looked around, unsure of who he could be referring to, until I noticed Spencer had turned to hide his face with his hair.
"We have a doctor stationed on the team for field work??" I asked.

"Not a medical doctor,"
came the voice of Dr. Spencer Reid,
"Ph. D's in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering."

I stood there in shell-shock. This kid, who looked my age, had three Ph. D's. Not one, not two! But three.

They seem like a wild bunch, but I'm sure I'll end up fitting in just fine.
