"Town browning?" I shake my head disapprovingly at the taxi driver.

Unfazed, he shifts his gaze to my sister, who remains engrossed in her phone, seemingly indifferent to his stare.

"Town alpha?" He addresses her by her school nickname.

She dismissively shakes her head, eyes still fixed on her screen.

After one last lingering look, the taxi driver hisses in frustration and merges back into the line of cars.

"Mi nuh know why yuh have me out here a wait pan yuh man enuh" I hear my sister grumble.

I turn to her, snapping, "Jordan is not my boyfriend, and mi nah force you fi stay. Remember, you can leave if you want."

"Okay girl, dash mi unda the bus fi yuh man member a dem give the bun the hardest" she continues to complain.

"Mi nah dash yuh anda nuhn fi nobody.if yah go wait, just wait without the constant complaining. Look pan through mount a taxi pass" I retort.

"And if dem gi the most bun, dat nave nothing to do with me. Like I said, Jordan and I are just friends," I clarify.

She remains unconvinced, humming skeptically.

I roll my eyes, choosing not to engage further.

Just in time, I glance away to see him crossing the street, dressed sharply in his white shirt, purple and white tie, fitted khaki pants, and black suede desert Clarks.

"Morning," he greets us as he joins our side.

Tori mumbles a brief acknowledgment while keeping her eyes on her screen. I stare at him, lips tightly pressed.

He furrows his brow, "Cyah seh morning?" I shake my head, looking away.

"Wham to yuh sista Tori?" he inquires, turning to Tori, who shrugs with a frown.

"Suhm gwan wid the two a unu?" he asks.

"You mi out yahsuh a wait pan yuh" I finally speak up, and he chuckles, shaking his head.

"Miserable, suh?" I avert my gaze, spotting a big yellow bus approaching. Tori signals the driver to stop, and I step in.

Despite Tori's displeasure with me, I pay for both of us and find a seat in the middle. Jordan settles beside me with his black sprayground bag on his lap.
