Dust on the Bible

In the silence of the night, a hardcover King James lay,
Gathering dust upon the nightstand, its pages in disarray.
Folded hands, unsure of what to say, the words elude my grasp,
Only reaching out to God when favors I must clasp.

But in these moments of need, I humbly plea,
For a grace beyond measure, to set my spirit free.
Though familiar with Amazing Grace, its melody unheard,
Yet on most Sundays, its lyrics remain unspurred.

For I've wandered far from the path, strayed from the light,
Yet still, I seek redemption in the midst of the night.
In the silence of my soul, I yearn to find,
The solace of forgiveness, the peace of mind.

So let these words be my prayer, my plea to thee,
Grant me mercy, O Lord, from sin set me free.
For though I may falter, and my faith may waver,
In your boundless love, may I find my savior.
