In the remote village of Diệp Gia Thôn, located in Dự Châu district, there is a custom where every household must burn two stacks of paper money, a stack of offerings, and another stack for wandering spirits and demons to pass through at night. The paper money is meant to help their deceased loved ones have a smooth journey to the afterlife without any difficulties.

After burning the paper money, each household tightly closes their doors, secures the latch, and goes to bed early to rest. Those who follow Buddhist beliefs may pray inside their homes, seeking peace for the night.

On a dark and stormy night, the rain and thunder clash against the leaves, creating eerie sounds resembling the procession of wandering spirits and demons. The howling wind adds to the already unsettling atmosphere, making the night even more eerie.

On a small path leading to the village, a blurry figure emerges from the rain and wind, disappearing into the village and heading straight towards a burial mound. This mound belongs to the ancestors of Diệp Gia Thôn, where the deceased members of the Diệp family have been buried for centuries. The shadow approaches a part of the mound without a gravestone, plants a flag for summoning spirits at the head, and stands in the wind to call upon the spirits.

The fresh earth of this part of the mound has not yet had any flags planted, indicating that it is a new burial site. "Brother Nhị, today is your seventh day, just after the Ghost Festival, I have come to visit you here." The voice sounds hoarse, not more than forty years old.

The man standing before the mound falls silent for a moment before taking a red umbrella from his back, opening it to shield the mound from the wind and rain. He then carefully takes out three incense sticks and plants them deep into the muddy ground. Ignoring the mud, he kneels down to bow three times, then stands up and takes out a curved shovel to start digging into the mound.

The fresh and waterlogged earth makes it easy to dig, and within twenty minutes, a hole is excavated. Wiping away the mud, a bright red coffin appears, beautiful and wet with rain.

The entire coffin was painted a deep red color, the bright red paint indicating a sudden death with heavy resentment. The thick red color on the coffin had a significant impact on the suppression of evil spirits.
