The TV was open, the news showing as Kichi was on his seat, sitting down with his leg up on the table, remote at hand. He was watching the news, deep in thought. Kichi didn’t know what to do, due to the immense amount of stress. The Justice and Order Protection Agency has been having a hard time keeping up with external and internal threats in the world. A Demon in a week, then two Necromancers in a day, and just yesterday, A Kaiju had to be suppressed. It was getting too much now, the feeling of being helpless, hiding behind the HQ’s walls, bottling up emotion.
A drop of blood splashed on Kichi’s shirt, leaving a stain that left a concerned look on his face, as he wiped his nose with a tissue, seeing more blood. His nose was bleeding. The more he focused on it, the more he got dizzy, the more flashes of scenes in his head started to show flashes of death. Kichi found himself near a corner, his head on the wall, pressing onto it, trying to make the feeling stop.
But how could he? After all, this was what he deserved, he thought to himself. After making such a mistake to abandon an innocent child, abandon his own son, he was sure that he deserved it…
“Kichi?”
Kichi looked at the door, seeing Akiro open it and entering the room, a worried look on their face. Akiro closed the door and rushed towards Kichi, taking a tissue from the table and wiping his face, removing the blood.
“You’re not fine. You don’t look fine. This isn't healthy…”
Akiro looked at the TV screen, seeing the news of outworld threats, and how the JPOA is slowly starting to lack in effort.
“You’ve been reading the news, haven't you?”
Akiro looked at Kichi, and with no reply heard from him, he sat him down and started taking a seat of his own. Kichi started speaking, in a drained voice, void of energy.
“I… I’ve made so many mistakes, thinking about myself, and now… I’m starting to get lost.”
“I can see that, Kichi. It’s been difficult with Nicole on a hiatus and Shichi off your radar. The Otherworlders are getting bolder. The course of the Otherworlders getting closer to Earth.”
Akiro then sighed, as he started to go onto the big screen in front of them, showing the list of active Fighters all around the globe.
“We’re losing members. There’s nine, almost ten of us, and we aren’t ready for such a threat. Or worse, an invasion. Besides, I’ve known that an alternate version of you, Tichimi, has arrived on Earth and is in hiding.”
Kichi, in a shocked but tired state, asked. “How’d you know? That was information only I knew-”
Akiro’s twin, Akiko, then interrupted him. “It wasn’t such a hard thing to do, digging into the JOPA’s files. For hell’s sake, did you ever wonder how Shichi’s banishment was made public?”
“No, but as what was happening outside, I don’t think I needed to deal with it.” Kichi said, looking at Akiro.
Akiro then pressed a button on the big screen, as the screen started projecting lines of code, and a confirmation that Akiro pressed again, this time, lighting up each Fighter’s status.
“I’ve activated the “Guardians” protocol. Kichi, if you’re not ready to take actions for yourself, then I’m afraid you’re still unwell to lead the Fighters. All around the world, from the USA, to even Hawaii, they all depend on you. Our main branch here in Jakarta is always ambushed. We don’t have anything else to depend on other than you. We don’t have heroes like we see on TV, but I’m hoping that when that time comes, you’re willing to fight the Otherworlders that want to destroy what we’ve built.”
Akiro and Akiko then left, the doors opening with a whirr sound, smoke coming out before they passed through, and the door automatically closed, leaving Kichi alone to think…
…but not for a long time. As a train station was being attacked. An alert blared, and it looked like Kichi wanted to do something, but was unable to do so.
“I’m hoping Shichi will be okay…”
