the main question that ran on some of their men's mind - or most of people's mind was,
why are they so fascinated on that inspector, han woong?
each of them would give different nonsensical answers.
nevertheless, the existence of the very woman called, han woong, can make these criminals go all red and kicking on their blanket like a teenage boy who just made eye contact with his crush.
"stay here. i'll go meet someone for a moment and i'll come back. don't go anywhere!"
"bu-" with that her flat mate was pushing her way through the crowd. woong held onto her phone as she was now all alone in the very crowded side walk.
the car engines roared through the streets as the crowd cheered on their favorite racer.
woong knew if her dad caught her, she'll be damned - especially since she's waiting for her letter of admission to the police academy.
her eyes roamed around at the place where the racers parked their cars. she felt as if it was another world. the way the racers flaunts their car that had stickers and the jealous worthy engines.
woong had a fantasy about dating a racer - like every other girls. she dreamt of the thrill and the adrenaline from driving in the fast cars that goes completely off the speed limit. a delinquent.
it was probably why she was very attracted to jake. to her, he was the guilty pleasure. wanting to have a thrill and going against the rules both her dad and herself had build.
her lips thinned at the way her head subconsciously thought of jake.
don't think of him. yejin brought me here to get my head of off him. let's just do that!
suddenly, an arm slung over her shoulders - scaring her, "why is a cute girl doing at a place like this?" she looked over to the figure next to her and saw a very cute guy.
woong felt the words getting stuck in her throat as she feels herself going red. she was still new to the environment and to a flirty guy that wasn't jake.
"uhm...i was with my friend..."
"where is that friend of yours?"
"she went to meet someone..." woong had turned her head to the direction her flat mate had went, to just getting her chin pushed back to look at him by his finger.
woong swear her heart leaped from the distance they were in. their face was so close that both their nose was brushing against each other. his eyes flickered from her lips to her eyes - which made woong wondered how does one have the guts to flirt so easily like that
"do you wanna hang with me before your friend comes pick you up?" he offered, "it's dangerous all alone here"
woong looked away from his eyes, "i don't even know who you are - so why should i trust you?"
the guy chuckled as he leaned back, arms still slung over her shoulders, "i'm jungwon, one of the racers here. you?"
"woong. han woong"
"why don't you try to race?" sunghoon, which woong had met while hanging with jungwon at his car - along with jay.
woong was sitting on the bumper of jungwon's car as the three surrounded her - keeping her company. sunghoon, particularly, had taken a liking towards the girl.
can see why you're so into her
woong shrugged, "it's my first time in this place - i don't even know how everythings works"
sunghoon's palm rested on top of her thigh, rubbing his thumb over her skin, "i'll teach you! i'll be your teacher - your hot and handsome teacher!" woong chuckled at the way he called himself, "how did you not cringe when you say that"
the ringing of the mic echoed through the street as it caught everyone's attention.
"next to the racing line is the holds the 3rd place in jeonju racing scene, jung jaesang!" the crowd cheers for the next racer as woong looked over to the guy who was fist bumping - who woong assumed - his friends.
"going against him is the best racer of our generation that has won 9 consecutive wins, yang jungwon!"
"well that's my cue"
"goodluck, bro" jay fist bumped jungwon as sunghoon helped woong get down from the bumper.
woong grinned at jungwon, making him blush slightly, "goodluck jungwon!" jungwon cleared his throat as he ruffled her hair
"what are we betting on, yang?"
the group turned their heads onto the direction of the voice, finding jaesang, smirking at woong. his confidence was spiking as he's heard of the infamous yang jungwon.
jungwon was partially new on the racing scene and jaesang believes that he won due to luck or he went against an inexperienced racer.
a young kid on the track? he wouldn't have experience as good as me.
"what do you want? money? or...district?"
"a kid as young as you have a district?" a scoff came out from his mouth, "i don't really need a district in seoul...what about your girl?" pointing towards the girl who was busy fixing her hair with jay helping her.
sunghoon frowned upon jaesang pointing towards the only girl amongst them, "no."
"it's not an option"
jungwon took a step closer to jaesang, eyes burning towards the latter, "and she's also not an option. only money, cars, and district"
"come on, are you scared that you'll lose her? i thought you're the all mighty, yang jungwon!" he mocked
"money or car. final." sunghoon voiced
jaesang pushed between the two and strided towards woong and jay.
stopping in front of woong, she looked up and saw a mischievous smirk plastered on his lips. jay took a protective stance in front of woong, blocking jaesang's sight of her.
"come on, you're not actually scared of losing her to me are you?" jaesang, now thinking the situation is funny, snickered at the three male.
woong peeked over jay's shoulder, enough to catch sight of jaesang winking at her. jaesang walked back to his spot as he checked his car for the last time.
"what's wrong?" she asked jay.
jay turned to face her as jungwon and sunghoon was staring daggers at the impish racer.
"nothing. just trying to make jungwon mad"
the glum expression was visible as woong furrowed her brow, "oh no...is jungwon ok?"
"don't worry, he's fine, love"
just then the ringing of the mic blasted once again, "tonight's betting will be a new and unique betting! it is agreed that tonight's betting would be on a lady, specifically the young lady who's with our consecutive winner, jungwon"
sunghoon and jungwon were clearly blasting smoke through their ears. the way they trudge towards the refree and jaesang spoke it all.
"what the fuck? we didn't agree on the bet!" sunghoon pointed at jaesang's chest, pushing him.
jungwon was trying to keep calm as he didn't spare the other racer a glance, "is there any way to change the bet? we didn't agree on anything yet"
"he said you agreed to bet on the girl...? i'm sorry, a bet is a bet. you can't change it"
