✦⋆✦ Leonhart, age 13 ✦⋆✦
It had been a week since I asked Gavin to help me. He left me in the woods saying nothing. In class, he no longer made rude remarks, or really even looked at me. I figured it was a no. I sighed and tapped my pen on my desk. 30 minutes of school left.
"You should start working on that, Leonhart. You haven't even begun." Mr Jones appeared out of nowhere. I jumped, kicking my desk. Everyone looked at me. I caught eye with Gavin, but he looked away as if he never once used to glare at me for things like this. That bothered me for some reason. I mean, no, I don't wish to be bullied, but now that I know he wasn't going to kill me, or I at least hoped he wouldn't, I wanted to learn from him. I couldn't find out who his dad was. I have seen men walking around the outside of our mansion, but maybe I was just dense and blind combined. I never said anything or asked questions since my sisters never seemed to question the men who walked around.
Now that's all I have. Questions. And lots of them. Mafia? Guards? I was shot by possible rivals?
I worked on the test and had it done in under 5 minutes. Ellie leaned over and raised a brow.
"Did you guess? You just went through marking left to right?" She whispered. I shook my head. I may be stupid with my surroundings or reading a room, but this schoolwork was simple. She nodded and sat back.
"What was the answer for 13?" Axel whispered. I glanced at my paper.
"C."
"And 14?" Axel asked.
"D."
"15?"
"A."
"Knock it off!" Atticus I could tell kicked Axel who jumped in pain and gave Atticus a glare.
"And 16?" Axel hissed lightly. I looked at the two. Axel was usually bubbly, even if one of us did something to him. Brother fight in silence maybe?
"Uh-"
"Don't." Atticus stopped me. "He chose not to study, he can suffer the-"
"No one asked you!" Axel hissed back.
"Both of you shut up and finish! We have less than 20 minutes!" Ellie chimed in. I sat silently. Well, friends fight, so of course brothers do. I fight the most with Phoebe. I also started to fight with Valencia. She believed it was my fault she got busted sneaking out after 1 am. In my defense, I thought someone was breaking in, not out! So, I kind of screamed like ah....well, a girl. My voice really betrayed me.
"Leonhart, what is 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20," Axel spoke, ignoring Atticus. Oh man, if I answer, Atticus will be pissed. If I don't, Axel will be.
"It's cheating," I whispered as a free pass out, but Axel seemed agitated today. I have never seen him so agitated. I sighed. "A, A, C, B and B." I whispered. He nodded without a smile. To think of it, he's been quiet all day.
"Leonhart!" Atticus scolded. I sighed.
"I just-"
"All four of you, hand in your test. It's a zero. The rule I give before every test is talking equals cheating. Cheating equals zero." Mr Otto held his hand out. All of us looked at him like he had 3 heads before Atticus slammed his pen down and gave over his test. Axel handed his paper over next.
"I wasn't even talking!" Ellie demanded.
"I've watched all four of you talk at some point during this test. So Miss Colemen, hand in your test." Mr Otto held his hand out. She slammed her pen down too and handed it over. I sighed and handed mine over. This was my fault. I should have turned Axel down on the very first questions he asked for.
