You're slowly falling in love with your local florist
*************************************************
It was the middle of April which means the beginning of the rainy season. While running errands it begins to rain. You thought for a moment you could endure but the storm only worsened forcing you to take shelter in your local flower shop.

You had been born and raised in this town but somehow you never noticed this small flower shop stuck right in the middle of your mother's favorite bakery and the town's seamstress. You take off your coat and walk around the flower shop. In your eyes, there was nothing special about the shop, just the smell of pollen and petals.

Setting your bags down, you called out to the shop's florist. You felt like you were intruding so you wanted to let your presence be known. You also wanted to let them know you were shopping but just waiting for the rain to stop

Suddenly you heard a loud crash from the back and walked closer to the front counter.

"Excuse me?" You said trying to peek through the doors leading to the back of the shop. The softest voice you've ever heard replied. "Just a moment please." You breathed a sigh of relief, you were glad you weren't all alone and so you found a stool and waited for the owner of this soft voice to show their face.

You close your eyes and start listening to rain feeling your body get heavy you lay your head down and fall asleep.

You felt someone tapping on your forehead and your eyes fluttered open. You are met with a light and hearty smile plastered across an unfamiliar face inches away from your face. Sitting on the stool next to yours they gently slide a cup towards you. "Be careful it's scorching". You take the cup and sip. It was your favorite kind of tea. Still not fully awake, you take glances at the stranger sitting next to you quietly sipping the cup of tea they had for themselves.

You watched them gaze out the window and in between sips it seemed like they were counting something. They would sometimes catch you looking at them and immediately avert their eyes. You turned to gaze out the window with them.

You both watched as people frantically ran to their homes. You watched cars splash puddles. You watch small animals run to find a dry spot to rest.

The rain doesn't look like it's going to let up for a while

I guess you were too focused on the outside world because they were gone when you turned back to speak to the stranger sitting next to you.

You pinched yourself. You were fully awake.

You felt something warm graze your ear. You turned your head and there was the stranger again holding a plastic bag. "It's from next door I got you a warm croissant if that's okay". You smiled and took the bag. The stranger took the empty cups and wandered off to the back. Once they appeared again they sat in the spot next to you. You both didn't speak for a while. You noticed they were fidgeting with their hands. You chuckled softly.

"I apologize for intruding in your shop to take shelter"
"It's no trouble really. I rarely see new faces around here"
They turned their body towards you and laid their hands in their lap. You guys began to have a conversation. It was full of laughter and it gave you a warm feeling. Once they opened up a little more they were full of energy and were very touchy.

The rainstorm started to pass and a drizzle started up. They looked out the window and smiled softly "The rain is letting up." You glanced out the window and could see the sun peeking out from behind the clouds. Your chest began to feel tight. "This was really fun y/n." The florist said, still looking out the window. The smile on their face began to fade.

"We should do this again sometime," you said. The florist smiled and nodded their head. They quickly got up and hurried to the back. You made your way towards your bags and started walking towards the front door. However, behind you, you heard their feet shuffling towards you. In their hands, they held out a bouquet of yellow roses and smiled from ear to ear. They slightly tilted their head and began giggling softly.

"To symbolize our new friendship, please come back soon."

And suddenly this small flower shop wasn't just a place that smelled like pollen and petals.
