<3

your palms were sweaty and your stomach was turning in knots the whole class. you didn't necessarily want to talk about your new crush, but you felt like you had to, or were expected to. you stole a few glances at osamu every now and then, but his eyes were fixated on the board in front.

it was obvious that osamu didn't want to talk about it, so you kept your mouth shut despite your chest bubbling with unspoken explanations.

what were you supposed to do? why were you stuck in this cycle? ugh. it was on your mind the whole day.

"hey," a familiar voice pulled you out of your thoughts. you turned on your heel to see atsumu coming up next to you.

he flashed you his signature grin before stopping beside you, "you staying today?"

"yeah," you smiled, grateful for the distraction. unfortunately it didn't last as long you hoped.

the boy leaned up against a locker, his eyes running over your face briefly. you crossed your arms over your chest and tilted your head at him slightly.

"what?" you asked, your lips starting to pull into a frown.

"oh, snappy today, huh?" atsumu teased, but you only huffed. he then shrugged seeing that you weren't exactly in the mood for his teasing, "you look a little off. something up?"

you shook your head, "not reallyy.."

he cocked his head to the side, his lips pressed into a thin line, clearly not buying it, "spill. what's wrong?"

damn, he knew you too well. you let out a small sigh.

"nothing important," you insisted.

atsumu scowled, nudging you playfully, "it is important."

your chest tightened at his words. you couldn't help but smile, "i'm just tired. yesterday was rough."

atsumu could tell it was more than that, but he decided not pry anymore, "yeah, it was. don't worry though, we'll come up with something so you don't feel like shit in the morning."

you smiled up at him, "thanks."

he nodded before quickly speaking again, "what if i play like shit today cus i didn't sleep?" he asked, rubbing his face aggressively like it would wake him up.

"don't overthink! it's all mental," you let out a quick laugh, removing his hands from his face.

your words earned a very dramatic eye roll from the blonde, "oh my god, you sound like coach. don't ever say that again."

you laughed again, admittedly a little embarrassed with that corny line. it was the only thing you could think of and it came out!

"you're such a loser," atsumu teased, nudging your head away gently.

you swatted his hand with a playful glare, "why are you here, by the way? shouldn't you be at practice?"

atsumu pushed himself off the locker, remembering that he did in fact did have to be at practice. it had been at least 5 minutes since his practice had started, "shit, you're right. i came here to get kita."

you looked around the mostly empty halls, "kita?"

he nodded before turning around and heading down the hall, "suna told me he was still in class doing some assignment. coach sent me."

atsumu's pace picked up as he began running, "i'll see you after practice, y/n!"

"okayy!" you smiled as you watched him disappear around a corner. the scariest thing about atsumu was that even small interactions like this could put the cheesiest grin on your face.
