"Luke!" Hazel said as we walked into his room. The monitor was still going, he was breathing. He just isn't awake yet, he should probably have been by now.
"Where's the doctor?" I asked the nurse watching us in the room.
"The Doctor will be in here in a minute or so," she said, looking at her watch.
Hazel and I sat in the chairs outside his room after she looked him over, waiting for the doctor to come and talk. It was five minutes before he walked up to us.
"Hello, ladies."
"Hi," I said. "What's the 4-1-1?"
"Lucas obviously is not awake yet. His heart monitor is going fine, and we couldn't figure out why he has not awoken. His breathing is normal, he's conscious. After digging deeper, we found out the surgeon's anesthesiologist seemed to have confused the correct dosage to give him. It should wear off in about an hour and a half. It won't affect him negatively after coming to, so that's all good news." The doctor assured a smile.
Hazel didn't seem phased. Relieved, but not phased. "Is there more good news or anything else you're gonna add on to your statements?"
"No, nothing really. He'll have to restrict lots of movement with it, no sleeping on that side. No bad news about it, everything went well. Just be sure to have him keep up on keeping the stitches clean and not getting them wet, is really all you need to worry about." The doctor nodded at us, "So, that's what I've got for you. I have to go wrap up paperwork, so I'll let you guys know when he wakes up, or see you around after he does, I don't know your plans. See ya." A wave and a fast-paced walk to go get papers done.
"Well, we're here for tonight. Let's check-in our hotel you got us. Then we can go grab some food at Sonic and drive around or something?" I suggested.
She nodded, "Sounds good to me. I'll set the maps up to take us there."
After putting our bags upstairs in our room -which, was nice, by the way. View of a part of the city, nice trees, a good sky view- we grabbed a bite to eat at Sonic, sitting in the car with the windows opened.
"So what are we doing tomorrow? How long are we even here for anyways?" I asked.
"Well, I booked a room for tonight, because I knew we would for sure need it. I didn't do anything about tomorrow or Sunday, though. So it's really just chilling out. We could probably look up things to do. I mean, it's California." She smirked.

We finished eating and drove to see some places before heading back to the hospital. We were back about an hour and twenty minutes since we first got here tonight. It's only about 6.
We had just walked into the room not even five minutes ago when his monitor went off. He woke up, and his breathing rate was fast. They took him out of the room and sent him to quick care. We got pushed behind, so we walked and tried to remember the turns and straights they took.
After ten minutes, they were done and we went into the room Luke was now in. He looked better, normal. He was perfectly fine.
The doctor came in and Hazel spun around to him and said, "You said there weren't going to be any side effects."
"Patients all react in different ways. He just woke up later and his breath had to catch up, it happens. We anticipated it, but weren't expecting it." He explained.
"You anticipated it and didn't say anything?" she asked.
"Haze..." I brushed her back so she could be pissed or whatever at him without getting in his face. "So when does he come home?"
