Prologue (5 years ago)

“Ashlyn I have something to tell you,” Blaine said with an expressionless face. Blaine never gave me that look; he only had that look when he had something serious to say.

Blaine and I are what you call the cliché couple of the year. I’m the quite nerd in the back ground while Blaine is star quarter back, we have been together for 6 months now and I love every minute of it. I love Blaine, I truly do. How can I not? He’s perfect from his beautiful electric blue eyes, to his wavy black hair, and to his perfectly sculpted body. I don’t just love him for his looks; I mostly love him for his kindness to others.

“Yes?” I replied softly to him.

Blaine ran his hand though his thick hair and said, “Ashlyn I’m breaking up with you.”

My eyes widen while I felt my heart slowly break piece by piece. I felt my eyes water from unshed tears.

“Wh-What? Why?” I stuttered.

Blaine looked at me with disgust while he said, “Are you not blind? This whole relationship has been a joke. The only reason why I went out with you is because of a bet. I had to waste 6 months of my senior year with you, pretending to like you, having to kiss you, it was all a lie. Our whole relationship was a lie. Everything I said to you was a lie.” Blaine laughed humorlessly, “Six months. Six months with a loser like you. Have a nice life, loser.”

And with that Blaine walked away. Each one of his words cut me deeper, each on broke my heart more and more. I felt my tears run down my face.

“Never again,” I whispered to myself, “Never again will I let another hurt me. Never again.”
