Dear Diary,
It's break right now! I know I should probably go to the library with Layla to get some work done or tag along with Isabel and Valentina to the stables for some extra riding practice, but I ran up to my room the moment the bell chimed. I couldn't wait any longer to tell you about what happened to me last night!
Or well... was it today? Last night and today? Oh I don't know, both! >.<
So it was late at night and the dorm was all quiet. It's the only time of day it isn't super chaotic around here! Sophia and I were talking and making glitterframes for everyone in Sapphire Dorm. 💙✨
I told Sophia about the cute antics Leaf got up to today while decorating Layla's frame. I generously stuck stickers of shiny little snowflakes and pale blue icicles all around the edges. It made me wonder what Sophia wore when it got cold. An image of her in a winter hat with pom poms popped into my head and I couldn't help but giggle. 🤭
"I guess we'd better get some sleep." Sophia finally turned to me and said.
I looked at the time and Sophia shushed me when I yelped. We had stayed up so late that it was nearly an hour past lights out!
I was so bummed! I hadn't even gotten to tell her about what happened in the stables after she left for class. Leaf had put flowers in Wildstar's mane! She wove her a garland and Wildstar pranced around proudly to show it off. It was the most precious thing! 🦄
But Sophia looked really tired, so I knew we needed to get some rest. I still need to tell her this story though so reminder to self: Tell Sophia! 💌
Sophia hauled me to my feet and I tried to hide my pout. I thanked her for the extra push and we both tucked ourselves into our beds.
I'm writing this while laying on my bed right now, and it's the most comfortable thing ever! 🛏💤 The deep pink blankets are so soft and the pillows are always cool to the touch and stay perfectly fluffy. Mr. Glitterhooves is suuuuper plush and cuddelable and the lights are always never harsh. I bet you that I could fall asleep in two seconds right now if I tried, but when Sophia is here, I just can't.
When she's here, I always want to keep talking and spending time. She's so fun and interesting, and when we hang out, everything is so much more sparkly. ✨
I tried to get comfortable under my covers and held Mr. Glitterhooves tight. I squeezed my eyes shut and thought about flutterbunnies jumping over rainbow clouds. But no matter how many I counted, sleep just wouldn't come. It's so frustrating when that happens! 😖
"Ava," Sophia whispered to me in the darkness, "Are you still awake?"
"Huh what!" I nearly fell out of bed.
Sophia startled me, I wasn't expecting her to be awake too! How did she know I couldn't get to sleep?
"Yeah," I told her, "How am I supposed to fall asleep when I'm on a permanent sleepover with my best friend?! Ms. Primrose really didn't think this one through."
Sophia laughed, "I know what you mean."
She did?! I know I can be a lot sometimes and I try to tone it down, but I just can't! When Sophia said that she understood how I felt it made me so happy. I know we'd made up after our fight, but something I hate to admit is that it left me feeling kinda maybe a little insecure.... Anyway I don't wanna talk about any of that! 🤐
So then Sophia goes: "Here, let me help."
And her voice sounded so different just then. Like she's always so fierce, right? But last night, there was this gentle kindness to her voice. It was a tone I'd only heard her using with Wildstar, but right now, she was using it with me?! (⸝⸝⸝O_ O⸝⸝⸝)
