It's been a week since the van incident, meaning it was now the 1st of February. Grace decided it was time to go talk to Leah. She had gotten used to walking around in her boot and since it wasn't her dominant foot, she could still drive.
She decided that before school was the best time, that way of Leah did admit that she was avoiding her, she could make a quick getaway due to having school as an excuse.
As usual, it was drizzling when she started driving to La Push. However, by the time she pulled up to the Clearwater House, it was pouring.
However, what was odd about it was Leah was walking in the rain in shorts and a T-shirt. Grace hurried out of her car and towards her best friend as fast as she could with the boot.
"Lee!" She called as she got closer
Though as she got closer to her best friend, she could see how differently the older girl looked. She was taller. Gone was Leah's long hair, instead it was chopped to just below her ears.
Not only that, but Leah has a tattoo on her shoulder.
Leah didn't turn around to face her, so Grace saw the way she shoulders tightened, "What are you doing here, Grace?" She asked
The redhead shifted at the cold tone her best friend used, "I brought you a present. To make you feel better." She admitted
The other girl was silent for a moment before she turned around, "I don't want it." She said flatly, "I don't want anything from you."
Grace felt a rising lump in her throat. Nonononono. She tried to push that feeling away, "Did I do something to anger or hurt you?" She questioned
"Did you do something?" Leah repeated and then raised her voice, "Yes! I got stuck with you!"
The Swan teen's heart broke at those words and tears welled in her eyes.
"Don't you get it?" The Quileute teen asked loudly, "I didn't want to be your friend but I got stuck with you! Just like your dad!"
And finally, Leah's eyes met Grace's.
But it was too late.
The damage was done.
Grace clenched her jaw, "Fine." She gritted out and tossed the present she had bought Leah onto the ground, "You're free from being burdened by me."
She rushed back to the car as fast as she could without injuring herself further and quickly reversed the vehicle and left the Clearwater residence.

Leah watched as Grace drove off as she still stood in the rain, her mind a mess.
When she has met Grace's eyes, she felt the world as it shifted. Her family, her pack, none of them matter more than her best friend.
And as usual, she ruined everything.
She hated that she had to lie to the girl and say the very thing she feared. But she couldn't deny the alpha, no matter how much she wanted to.
"You imprinted." Sam said as she met up with the pack
She imprinted. On her best friend. Who's heart she just broke.
The Quileute teen started to shake with anger, "I just had to cut ties with her!" She raged
Sam had the decently to look apologetic, "And I'm sorry for that. But I won't let anyone else get hurt."
She nearly scoffed. She imprinted. On her best friend. Who's heart she just broke.
And all her ex-boyfriend, now alpha, had to say was that he was sorry.
"Sorry isn't going to fix this!" Leah yelled angrily, "I need to see her!"
The alpha shook his head, "You're still too new at this, Leah. You could hurt Grace and if you did, you would never forgive yourself."
Finally, the anger that she had been feeling boiled over and she quickly moved away to shift.
The Leah-Wolf threw her head back and howled in sadness at hurting her imprint.

All day Grace was lost in her thoughts and felt the lump in her throat.
I didn't want to be your friend but I got stuck with you! Just like your dad!
That was what Leah had said.
Leah, who was the only one who knew about her fear of abandonment, who knew she feared that her father got stuck with her.
She didn't mean it...
Then why did she say it?
The redhead knew words said in anger were often thoughts that someone had for a long time.
If Leah has gotten tired of her, would her dad get tired of her? Angela?
She brought her flute up to her lips and started to play.
She didn't need Leah.
But Grace knew that was wrong. She wanted, needed Leah in her life.
She sighed as she put her flute away and laid in bed.
It seemed to be a pattern in her life. Renée didnt want her and her dad got stuck with her. Leah didn't want her and got stuck with her.
The tears that she had been suppressing all day finally came back with a vengeance.
And she didn't stop them as they started sliding down her cheeks.
(And so started the first night of many that Grace cried herself to sleep, reeling from the loss of her best friend.)
