You

The fog of your breath pushed out with a sigh, your eyes narrowed and your brows only furrowed more with the thought of the fight that had just broke out between you and your best friend. It was a freezing night, a time that no one should be out taking a walk at, especially alone. It was so cold you couldn't help but shiver and feel your eyes drying after every couple of seconds they were kept open.

what you weren't going to do though, was go back home. You were a stubborn girl, never wanting to take advice, believing you were always right about almost everything, doing what you wanted and when you wanted, and simply thinking you could always get what you wanted.

All those words and actions during the argument filled your mind, pushing aside why you really should be thinking of – Where the hell were you even going? You stared out to the dark path. It was so dark your eyes seemed to make random shapes and scribbles that would disappear after a blink but come back almost immediately. That didn't stop you from continuing to walk though, you acted as if you weren't scared but deep down, you were trembling.

After walking further along the path, it seemed there was an ending point to the dimmed lighting from the light stands on the sides. A few flickered on and off, and a few just didn't work at all upon reaching that point where it was pure darkness. You hesitated, stopping in your tracks and staring out with an unsure expression.

Should you keep going and hope for more light beyond that? Or was it best to just go back and apologize?

You remained at that same spot, blinking hard to try and clear up the dark, to let your eyes adapt and bring in at least something to recognize but it was no use, nothing was working.

There was an awful feeling in the pit of your stomach, you didn't know what it was.. but it was clear it wasn't a good feeling at all. Suddenly, you felt your heart accelerate - it's almost as if the temperature got even lower than what it already was.

You took a few steps backwards, not pulling your sight away from that dark area. The ice underneath your feet crunching with each slow step and your hands fidgeting with your own fingers. You had made up your mind and decided it was best to just head back.

You took once last step back, but what was this wall behind you..? No, there were no walls even near you. Your heart dropped and your eyes flung wide, the feeling causing you to freeze in your current position. You could almost feel this .. thing.. breathing down on you.

Then he spoke, his voice soft.. He sounded so confident, so gentle for some reason but his presence made you feel otherwise, " Didn't anyone ever tell you not to be out at such times? " A hum followed his question and his chest pressed against your back for a split second before you'd step forward to give enough space to turn to look at him.

Your lips were left agape, your eyes large and her body trembled in fear as you slowly turned to see who it was that was going to end it all for you. The moonlight made it a bit hard to see his face but you didn't want to make any sudden moves that would cause him to move harshly towards you.

" You poor thing.. I can smell the fear right off you. "

It didn't take much until you realized something, something that caused your body to start to feel numb and make your knees go weak. You stared at him with those large eyes of yours as they slowly to grow glossy by the passing seconds.

He had a large smile plastered on his face, red streaks along his lips, cheeks and chin. It was blood, human blood. The strong stench of iron surrounded the two of you which made you sick to your stomach, wanting to throw up out of fear and disgust, but you just couldn't seem to get your legs working.

Over his shoulder and within his grip rested a leg of a woman, it was detached from the rest of her body with a few chunks missing out of it, clearly the pieces he had already eaten. In his other hand, the head of the victim, the expression of fear left on it as it was her face during her last moments. The blood was everywhere.

Your heart hammered within your chest when you noticed a change in his expression which was still hard to catch on to, but it soon became clear once he'd tilt his head and block out the bright moon, allowing his face to be seen easier now. His large multicolored eyes scanned your face and yours to his.

It wasn't much longer until the sound of a loud THUMP and rolling of the woman's head and leg he held were heard by you, you didn't want to drop your gaze to look at it, though, the way he was looking at you was frightening but there was something you were realizing slowly, and being that you were in such a situation made it far more difficult to do so.

The demon reached a blood stained hand out, it inched closer and closer to your face until his palm was right up against your cold cheek. The blood rubbed off on your face and his touch was freezing yet gentle towards you. Why? Why hadn't he eaten you yet? That's what he wanted, wasn't it?

With his palm cupping your cheek, he slowly leaned down closer towards your face to get a better look and that's when you realized you recognized him, you.. remembered him.

" D-.. Do— "

He shushed you with his other hand by placing his palm over your lips and shaking his head. It's almost as if he wanted to take in the moment to make sure it was even real, he found you after all those years of being separated. You were real.

" Y/n, don't look at me with those eyes. I'm not going to hurt you. " He said calmly and reassuringly. You stared at him with eyes full of fear, the person you once knew was now a demon, why didn't he want to hurt you? How hadn't he forgotten about you after so long..

He dropped his hand from your mouth with a small smile that slowly grew larger, his head tilted to take a better look at you and his hand he remained at the bottom of your chin.

" Doma..? " You whispered with a cracking voice, her eyes filled of tears and your body remained stuck in place. Was this even real? How- You looked at him, your breathing picked up and you felt like you'd faint at any moment now, but you couldn't help but ask, " W- What happened to you?.. Are you? "

Doma simply shook his head and shushed you once more, humming within the process before taking your wrist in his hand and pulling you in closer.

" You mustn't stay here anymore.. Come with me, let us catch up and no longer be separated like in the past.. You don't understand how long I have searched for you. " He went on, rambling things he wanted now and how he didn't want to let you leave his side no longer until you'd interrupt.

" I can't do that, don't you know how crazy my mother would go if I'd just disappear? I-.. I'm sorry, Doma. It isn't the same like it was years ag-.. "

With that his eyes dropped to the floor before returning to your own, his grip on your wrist tightened and quickly he pulled you into a tight embrace to keep you from running off away from him.

" Your mother..? — Don't you see that she's the one who caused all this? " He looked at you with concern and a pouty look, his chin lowered to look at you and he seemed almost angry now.

" Let us go now.. Your mother will soon be meeting me for the final time very soon. No one will take you away from me again. "

You didn't think your life was ever going to change how it did that night.
