Engfa's POV
Obviously, I couldn't say no, so I'm sitting in her living room right now as she's bringing me cookies.

"Sorry, Charlotte is taking a shower. I'm sure she'll be out soon." "No worries, please, Mrs. Austin, sit down, you don't need to bring me anything." "Oh, please call me Kathy, so how do you know my daughter?" "Umm, well, she's helping my parents with some stuff, and technically, I'm working under her, so you can say she's my boss." "Oh, with the school, right?" I nod. "Mom, I heard the door. Who was it?" I turn around to find the source of the voice, and I'm literally frozen in time. Charlotte is standing by the hallway next to their kitchen, and her hair is wet. She's holding a towel in her hand, and her hazel eyes look the brightest. "Oh, Ms.Waraha, sorry, did I keep you waiting?"

"Engfa, please, and no, not at all, your mom invited me in." Charlotte nods and starts walking towards me, but before she can reach me, her mom starts speaking again.

"So what did you study in college, Engfa?" I have to quickly shake my head to not let my mind wonder about Charlotte and her wet dark brown hair. I can smell her shampoo from here, it's a mixture of lavender and vanilla.

I'm not sure why her mom is asking me that, but I answer anyway.

"Business management, but a year after I graduated, I went back and studied criminal justice too."

"Oh wow, that's amazing, your parents must be so proud." Before I could answer her, Charlotte jumped into the conversation.

"Ok, mom, that's enough with the questions." I thank God that she saved me from having to respond to that.

"Okay, so umm, I did something, and you can totally be mad at me for doing it." I say this and turn to look at a confused Charlotte.

"I changed all of the tyres, and your breaks needed changing too, so the mechanic changed your breaks too, and I also took your car to a car wash." I say this as I'm fidgeting in my spot. Charlotte looks shocked.

"You did what? Why would you do that?" "I'm sorry, I was already there, so I might as well change all four." "How much was it? I can pay you back." "Mmm, I don't know. I can't remember all of a sudden." "Don't be ridiculous. How much was it?" I ignore her question and turn to Kathy. "Kathy, it was really nice meeting you. You have a beautiful home."

"Likewise, and thank you so much for everything, when my husband comes back from his business trip, we'll invite you to dinner to thank you properly." I just nod and smile.

I turn back to see that Charlotte is still looking shocked.

"Is Olivia sleeping?"

"Yeah, she was really tired, she wouldn't get out of your car." She informs me with a chuckle. "I had to drag her out."

"Well, she can ride in it anytime she wants, I really should get going, though I have paperwork at home that I need to do."

Kathy gives me a hug, and Charlotte walks me out and gives me my car keys, and I give hers back too. She opens the door, and I get out and turn around, and we're both looking at each other for a second.

I don't know what came over me, but I went to touch her shoulder, and she flinched so hard that it scared me.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." "No, no, you don't need to be sorry, that just surprised me." I nod. "Engfa, thank you so much. I don't know how to thank you; you didn't need to do all of that. I wish you would let me pay you back." "Don't mention it, Ms. Austin." She cuts me off before I can finish my sentence.

"Charlotte, if you insist I call you by your first name, then you do the same, it's only fair." I nod and can't help the fact that I'm smiling.

"Well, don't mention it, Charlotte. I wanted to, and you can pay me back, but in a different way."

She raises an eyebrow. Hot. But I quickly realised how that sounded.

"I mean, not that way. Sorry, that sounded wrong. What I meant to say was, Can I please give you a ride to the event tomorrow? We can go together." She looked at me for a second.

"Umm, sure, yeah." "Awesome, I can pick you up at 8:30, would that work?" "Yeah, that's perfect." "I'll text you when I'm on my way," I say. I slowly step back, but I'm still looking at her. She looks so beautiful under the street lights, you can still see her striking hazel eyes. "Good night, Charlotte." I say that and wave at her.

"Night, Engfa, drive..." she pauses for a second. "Drive safely." I nod and turn around quickly, so she doesn't see how big I'm smiling. I quickly get in my car and drive off. This girl is going to be the death of me.

It's the next morning, my nerves are getting the best of me. I invited Nudee, Tina, and Chompuu to talk to them about Charlotte.

I'm lost in my own thoughts when I hear the door opening and closing. I look over, and the three of them walk in.

"Hey Fa, good morning." Nudee is the first one to greet me, and Tina and Chompu follow after.

"So what's up? Why did you want to meet?" Chompu questions me as they are all taking a seat on the couch.

"I, um, well, I wanted to talk to you guys about something."

"Oh my gosh, you've met someone." Tina literally shouts, and Nudee and Chompu turn around to look at me in shock.

"What? I haven't even said anything yet."

"You're literally glowing, and you're nervous, and you don't get nervous often. So who is she? Come on, we're waiting." The three of them look eager.

"You know the businesswomen my father hired to help with advertisements and the opening of the new school."

"No freaking way, you're crushing on your boss." Nudee cuts me off. "She's technically not my boss boss, we're just working together." "Okay, okay, sorry, continue."

I start telling them about how I bumped into her and everything that has happened since then. I tell them about her daughter and how cute she is. I tell them about the car incident and how I met her mom yesterday. And the fact that I asked to drive her to the event today, and she said yes.

"You've already met the parents. Wow, Engfa, look at you growing up." Chompu hits my shoulder while saying that.

"Yeah, she's going to be a mom too." Tina adds with a chuckle. "Shut up, all of you. I'm serious about this." "Stop teasing her, you two." Nudee jumps into the conversation too. "Thank you." "Alright, sorry. On a serious note, we're happy for you. It was about damn time." Tina says. "I'm scared, you guys, I've never felt like this." I look down to the ground.

"Engfa, you're amazing, and I understand these feelings can be intimidating, but it's important to take action even when you're scared. It's not about eliminating fear entirely, it's about harnessing it to propel yourself forward."

"T, this is why you're a good lawyer." I say it with a chuckle, but I can feel my eyes fill with tears.

Chompu quickly hugs me, and Nudee and Tina join too. We hugged for what felt like forever before I broke the silence.

"You guys are coming to the event, right?"

"You bet your ass we are, we can't wait to meet her." Nudee says it with an excited tone while Tina and Chompu are nodding.

They always come to events with me, one reason being that I don't like being in my father's presence alone.

"Plus, your dad called our firm; he needs lawyers present at the event just in case." Tina adds. I just simply nodded since this is not the first time Tina's firm and my father have worked together.

I really hope this night goes well. And maybe I could go racing afterwards.
