Keep that in mind)I ran through the crowded Kingdom center, trying my best to lose the guards chasing me. I ran down an alley, trying to hide by ripping off my cape, but all of my clothing had the Wheeler Coat of Arms on them.
I thought I'd made it, tasting the freshness of the air until I heard, "HE'S DOWN HERE!" The head-guard; known as Oliver, notified the other guards, who swiftly came to his aid.
Back to the chase, I thought to myself. Running around every corner, I heard the clanging of their metal armour falling behind me, getting quieter and quieter until I found myself no longer in the town-center, but on the furthest house from.
———
"Harbouring a royal?! What are you even talking about?!" I screamed at the man in armour that I had helped to make. "On what account do you make these claims?!" I questioned.
"You're gonna need to come with us. Now!" The head-guard ordered. "Whatever for?!" I asked as fear and worry crept up my spine. "For attempting to steal from the King, which is treason."
Oh... that I did do.
———
"Thank you for letting me stay!" I said with a smile of hope and trust to the woman standing in the door way. "Anything for a royal, although it mustn't be for long." She said, stepping to the side.
The cottage was small, at the edge of the village near the vast river. God knows how I got here without the guards catching up to me. The floorboards creaked beneath me.
The house was a lot different to my castles standards but I was in no position to be spoilt. "It's late so I must be off to bed, important jobs to fulfil when the sun rises." She said with a smile that could only be described as angelic.
"Very well, where shall I be sleeping?" I asked her. She led me upstairs to a small room with only a bed occupying it. "I know it's not much but-" "It's perfect, thank you." I cut her off to stop her from insulting her beautiful home.
The bed wasn't exactly the silky sheeting I was used to but again, grateful.
———
"And if I find him and bring him back alive, all charges are to be dropped?" I asked the King. "You have until Wednesday. If you bring him alive, but work with haste as you aren't the only one looking for him. Oh, and don't forget, I'm a man of generosity, you'll be rewarded accordingly." He replied. I nodded.
"Thank you for your kindness, King Wheeler." I bowed and left the hall, beginning my hunt for the royal-blooded boy.
———
It was the next morning, the sun beginning to rise.
I heard a scream, before it stopped, suddenly. "Are you alright?!" I called out with no response.
I went downstairs to find the source of the noise but the house was completely silent. I heard a footsteps coming from behind me and when I turned around, I saw the woman, knocked unconscious.
I instantly reached for the door but a knife was thrown into the wooden beams, startling me for a moment. I looked back and saw a masked man, standing there, looking ready to kill.
I ripped the door open, slamming it behind me and making a sprint towards the fields.
I looked back and this man was running at me, showing zero signs of giving up chase or even letting me live. His unrelenting gleam seemed to stare through me, like I was just a bag of money.
I didn't stop running until my path was obstructed by an unforgiving river.
The hunter did not hold back, just kept coming. He was mere inches away before I jumped into the river, the powerful stream taking me away.
When I heard a second splash, my heart sunk. He was determined to catch me, but I was determined to get away. I swam towards the sides, gripping onto it, cutting my fingernails on the rock.
The hunter swam straight into me, grabbing me. I squirmed, punched, thrashed but his grip only got more overpowering.
I noticed a rock ahead of us, coming at an all too accelerated speed. Before I knew it I collided with the rock, my vision going fuzzy from the impact.
