FAUNA was alarmed one day when she heard from her brother that the wedding would be delayed for one month. Dash and Emerald should be wed this month as according to the invitations. The gowns had been fit, receptions were organized, and the church had been reserved.

Pero nagtataka siya kung bakit kailangan pang e-delay. Unti-unti nang nag-sink in sa kanya ang lahat eh. Makakalimutan na niya ito.

But her brother didn't add more information to that news.

Nagmamadali niyang itinupi ang kanyang white robe para maabutan pa niya ang kanyang kuya bago ito makapunta sa next appointment nito. She was now working in their hospital as its trainee. Kasama niya ang sampu niyang mga classmates, pero magkahiwalay sila ni Minty dahil mag-e-engineer ang kaibigan niya at nasa isang construction firm ito nag-i-immersion.

She was chasing the elevator when she stopped from her tracks as she saw Emerald exiting from one of the hospital rooms. Katabi ng hospital pharmacy ay iyong OB-GYNE Office ni Dr. Chua. Wala itong kasama pero mukhang nagmamadali.

Out of her curiosity, she walked towards the office. May lumabas ding nurse doon na nginitian siya at binati. May hawak itong papel at iyong usual nitong tools for their rounds.

"Ma'am Fauna, magandang hapon po."

"Magandang hapon din, Nurse Klare," she smiled, friendly. Kilala niya ang nurse for the pediatrics department. "Iyong babaeng lumabas dito? Nagpa-consult 'yon kay Dr. Chua?"

"O-opo," nagdalawang isip na sagot ng nurse.

It was instructed by her brother na hindi daw dapat ma-intimidate ang mga empleyado ng ospital sa kanilang dalawa. At hindi daw dapat binibigyan ng espesyal attention si Fauna habang nandito. Pahirapan daw siya kung gusto ng mga ito pahirapan. Eh halos hindi nga siya pinapatrabaho rito.

But...the nurse reaction told her she would tell information if Fauna would ask.

"Some complications with her menstruations or what?" iyon kasi parating naririnig niya. "Or monthly check up?" Oh fuck. She sighed and walked toward her closer. Napahakbang tuloy si Nurse Klare na tila'y natakot na sa kanya. "I will not tell a soul po. I'm not that kind of person. Just tell me po...buntis ba 'yong babae? Kilala ko kasi boyfriend 'non."

Kumurap na lang si Nurse Klare at tumango ng marahan. "Sige po, Ma'am." Agad-agad ang pag-alis ng nurse papaakyat sa hagdanan papuntang second floor.

Laylay na naman ang balikat ni Fauna na pumasok sa elevator. Oh God, Emerald was pregnant. Kahit masakit, nagpapasalamat siyang mayroon siyang ganitong impormasyon dahil nakakatulong ito sa discouragement niya kay Dash. Discouragments would eventually lead to acceptance.

Acceptance would lead to forgetness.

When she arrived at the top floor of the building, where the offices of their companies reside. Ten floors were occupied by their hospital services and the other ten floors were for their pharamaceutical business operations. Nandito ang opisina ng CEO, ng offices board of directors, ng CFO, ng conference hall, ng testing laboratories, some offices of their prominent doctors.

May opisina ang kanyang kuya rito dahil may thesis and research itong inaatupag. Nagpapa-consult ito sa mga medical doctors nila.

She knocked the lone office of the hallway. "Come in!"

Agad niyang binuksan ang pinto saka pumasok. Her brother was closing his laptop and organizing the thick papers above him. Naka-puting t-shirt at black trousers na lang ito. Nakasampay na sa couch ang roba at long-sleeves nito. It was like...her brother was fighting battles in this room.
