The house is quiet, finally, after Suyeon had come home after staying at the funeral home for the past days. Her mother had decided to stay with one of her brothers for the meantime, seeking healing in taking care of her grandchildren. If that would actually be enough to distract her from the pain of losing her husband.
Meanwhile, Suyeon's father's ashes have already been brought to the local mausoleum, leaving Suyeon all by herself in their family house, almost desperate for a companion. Even if it were her father's ashes, she would have wanted to have him around in this house if she was going to be alone.
Nevertheless, her deal with Death is still up. And the clock is still ticking for her, not stopping at all in bringing her closer and closer to the end of the two months they had agreed upon. And as she somehow hadn't expected, Death hasn't been showing up to her much in the past days.
Hyunjin had reassured her just yesterday, shortly after the funeral had ended, that Youngtaek is always gonna be watching over her anyway, but Suyeon isn't so sure if that's really assuring at all. Even until now.
"... If you're really there, I could really use a companion right now!" Suyeon calls out after a moment, sitting on the sofa and looking out at the empty house she had ended up in. Her voice echoes off the walls and returns to her, and that pretty much just sums up the response she gets for her request.
Perhaps Death isn't as warm as she thought. Truth be told, if it weren't for Hyunjin, she probably wouldn't even have been able to get that deal with Death.
It's just unfortunate that Hyunjin had to go back to Seoul to continue his studies. After all, she can't just disturb him, even though he'll probably still have much more chances to continue learning in the future because he'll obviously live longer.
"... Hey! Are you there?! Hyunjin said you would be!" Suyeon calls out again, looking around this time at the ceilings and the walls as if she expects to see Death hanging from one of them in her search.
But the house remains empty. At least, in her eyes. And the emptiness weighs down on her with every passing second.
Suyeon sighs as she looks at nothing in particular. Perhaps she really is alone at the moment. It doesn't take long before she lets herself drop onto the sofa, lying on her side as she lets her eyes flutter closed.
Perhaps sleep will help heal her loneliness, even just a bit. And maybe when she wakes up, Death would be around to give her company.

"Oh, how troublesome."
Meanwhile, Deceit, the Fifth Messenger, is having trouble with an apprentice of his, grimacing as he watches the female reaper struggle with capturing the soul of a child.
Jiyeon, the apprentice, on the other hand, is grimacing herself, but hers would be because of her panic in having to deal with a crying child.
"WAAAAHHH! I DON'T WANNA DIE!" the child wails, her head pointed to the sky while Jiyeon watches her with a nervous smile.
"B-but sweetheart... these kind of things can't be controlled. Life comes and goes eventually-"
"I want my mommy! Mommy!" the child continues crying, however, like Jiyeon is invisible to her, even though the grim reaper should be visible to her now that she's a soul out of her human body.
"S-sweetheart... I-I'm afraid we can't do that because your mother can't-"
"Do you really want to see your mom?" Deceit suddenly interjects, and Jiyeon's brows rise before she turns arouns to see that the Messenger had appeared right behind her.
