Katelyn's pov
i turned away from him and started walking to my car, my walk turned to a jog then a sprint. i started looking for the car keys in my pouch and i was not finding them, the tension in my chest build up, i was struggling to breath i was sucking in long hard strokes of air but it was not helping and the screaming in my head was getting worse.
i needed my inhaler but it was inside the car whose keys i am not finding, i was holding my chest tightly coz of the pain and my vision was becoming blurry i was afraid i would pass out. "OMG are you ok, look at me, come on look at me, it's ok just follow my lead ok, deep breath in... out..." it took a while before i was able to calm down. "my.. my.. inhaler in... in the car... backseat..my keys... in the bag.." "ok, ok my name is Darleen by the way, i live next door, you can not imagine what it is like to live next door to this bitch Millan, she is ever partying , i mean i get it your done with high school and shit but like huuuhh. no offence though i know you have come to this party coz your friends and all but seriously she has got to tone it down a little bit don't you think.... oops i've started rambling again, where did you say your inhaler was again? back seat wow you have a lovely car it is a jeep is it not boy i've always wanted one of these...."
Darleen was still on the floor looking for the keys as she was talking, and i was on the verge of another attack but i found her interesting she took her phone out and turned on the flash light and that's when i saw her face she was very pretty, with rich brown eyes, long flowy hair and her outfit was cute, a pink sun dress with white sneakers.
When she found them, she quickly opened the car and took my inhaler and handed it to me, and i breathed out a sigh of relief, literally. "anyway what is your name, wait wait let me guess, Samantha , you look like a Samantha.." "umm hello.. no i am not a Samantha, i am a Katelyn.. wait how do Samantha's look like?" we both burst out laughing and for a moment i forgot what a terrible evening i just had.
''Anyway Darleen, thanks for your help, i could have been really hurt. " "hurt is an understatement, and why are you saying it as if it's a by the way, like this us an irrelevant part of your life that you have to deal with, not cool. and your welcome." wow, that was the first time i was ever lectured like on something that directly concerned me, in a good way, it also felt nice that someone actually cared... after a brief silence i took the initiative to start over, some how i had a good feeling about this acquaintance, yeah i don't want to name the 'ship' yet.
''um hi again i.. my name is Katlyn but a lot of people call me K... sorry i made you mad on our first meet, please do not be mad..." i pulled her shirt a little, and a small smile plastered on her face. "i am not mad... just take your health more seriously ok?" i nodded, then checked my watch, it was well past 11 pm i had to get back home, not that it mattered to anyone, but my brother will be closing school tomorrow and i'll be the one to pick him up so i had to leave.
"Darleen, it was very nice to meet you, but i have got to get home now have a goodnight.." i did not want to seem desperate so i did not ask for her contacts so i slowly stood up from the floor where we sat, , dusted my self a little bit, then entered my car.
"hey, give me your phone, i'll leave my contact here just call me when you get home safely ok" i have never been happier, this small gesture tugged my heart strings in ways even I could not even understand. i nodded rapidly then said a small ok then happily handed her my phone hoping that i did not seem too excited. she let out a small laugh and waved goodbye as soon as she saved her number on her phone.
i roared my engine and slowly left the vicinity. from the rearview mirror i could see Darleen walk back to the house next door thus i assumed that that was where she lived. i took a deep breath starting my journey home. it is when i thought to myself, maybe i had to loose something to gain something better..."my holiday is not ruined after all."
