The Past Comes Back

Chapter 1

Andy and Robert had been in a secret relationship for 5 years. 4 of those years they have been married and they have a 2 year old daughter than no one knows about.  The only person who knows about Andy's past is her husband. She felt that it was important to be honest with him before getting entirely serious. It didn't matter to him. He loves her for who she is. He was happy that she was as honest as she was with him.

~Back Story~
Andy had grown up in New York with her mom and taking flights every other week to be with her dad in Seattle, until she was 13. She didn't get along with her mom anymore and she was sent to Seattle to live with her dad. When she was 18 she went back to make amends with her mother. While she was there she fell in love with a Co-worker, who happened to be her best friend. When things got complicated and people around her started to become ill, she told him to tell her to stay. When he didn't say a word she walked away and was never seen again. She had changed her last name to Herrera, now sharing a name with her dad for 6 years. She came back to Seattle when she was 22. She had been a Herrera for 6 years. Although she got married she kept Herrera and took her husband's name. She is now known as Andrea Herrera-Sullivan. She had been a cop from the time she turned 18 until she left New York at 22. Although she was a detective for about a year before she left. She decided to change careers and become a firefighter. She didn't want anyone from her past to find her. Little did they know she's not a captain at Station 19.

Robert woke up and got ready for work before going down and making his family breakfast. Soon after he started breakfast, his wife came downstairs ready for work with their child in her arms.  "Well good morning to you guys" Robert said with a smile on his face.

"morning daddy" was all his daughter managed to say.

Andy- "Good morning baby." she said as she planted a kiss on her husbands lips.

They sat down and ate breakfast. They talked about what they would need from the store for dinner. Their daughter made a big mess with syrup from her pancakes. After they finished eating Robert cleaned his daughter up and got her ready to leave.

Robert- "I'm gonna take her into day care today. You have a captains meeting to get to."

Andy- "Right, I completely forgot about that."

Andy kissed Robert on the lips and her daughter on the forehead before hurrying out the door. Robert got Reign into his car seat and started to drive towards the daycare. He signed her in and headed towards the station. Although he is the Battalion Chief. He got to choose which station he kept his office, and of course he chose 19.  After her captains meeting, she called for Sullivan in her office. He walked in and shut the door before he sat down.

Andy- "They want me award me with a medal for Valor for the night of the windstorm." she said with a face of disappointment.

Robert- "That's great babe, but I can tell you don't want it. Why?"

Andy- "We save people everyday Robert. I couldn't even save the patient that night. Not everyone made it out alive."

Robert- "You saved me Andy and only you know how important that is for our family. Everyone else just thinks you saved your Battalion Chief. You saved our family Andy. You deserve it."

Andy- "Thank you. I needed to hear that."

Before Robert could say anything else his phone started ringing. He looked and seen it was from the daycare. He answered.

Robert- "This is Robert. Is Reign okay?"

Daycare- "Yes, but there was an incident. During naptime she had a nightmare. She woke up crying asking if her daddy and mommy were okay. She was scared that you guys had passed."

Robert- "I'll be there soon."

Once the call ended Andy asked him what's wrong.

Robert- "Reign had a nightmare at nap time about us being gone. I'm gonna take the rest of the day off."

Andy- "Please let me know when you get home"

Robert- "I will."

Robert left and rushed to pick his daughter up from day care. He took her home and comforted her until Andy got home. They played in bed and watched a movie before their daughter drifted off to sleep and they put her in her crib.  He went back into his room and got back into bed. Andy fell asleep on Robert's chest.
