A/N
Request from SashaWalker5 on Ao3"Are you done?" Natasha stood outside the forest line, watching a black mass approach the light of her helicopter. Two yellow eyes peeked from the shadows, eyeing the woman down. All before a more familiar woman emerged, "Yeah- Let's go." Y/n wiped the blood dripping from her lip, walking past the widow into the ship. Natasha sighed, glancing back to the forest one last time before she joined her sister.
They weren't technically sisters, it was just the label they chose. They had been through enough together to be considered related, besides the fact they both originated from the same dark place. The two sat silently on the jet as if it was just another Thursday night. Just as Natasha opened her mouth, Y/n marched to the bathroom. She smoothed her dark hair, studying the black in her skin. It began to fade away, as she had just fed.
The animal inside her craved real- live prey. So every once in a while, when the black began to appear on her skin she visited the forest outside of the state. Where Natasha would return, late morning the next day. Y/n sighed, trying to blink away the glow of her eyes before the ship landed at the tower. No one should be awake in their return, but it was the sediment of the situation. She didn't want to be that beast in her sudo-home.
And as she opened the door, her sudo-sister leaned against the entrance. Y/n sighed, walking past her. "Do you think that'll be enough for another week?" Natasha asked, following the girl to her seat. "Should be." Y/n leaned on her wrist, looking outside the window of the jet. "And what if it isn't?" Y/n shrugged. "I won't always be here to help you." She snapped her head towards the assassin, "So what? You want me to blab about my sorrows to your friends?"
"No, I want you to be ready for the day when eating a few bulls doesn't cut it anymore." "And I will be. So don't worry about it." Natasha watched the ship approach the tower, "You're not the only panther on this team. I'm sure T'challa would give you a pinch of land- Tony could just buy a whole goddamn forest." "And none of them will care I'm just- slaughtering the wildlife around the place?" The ship landed, silently as usual.
"We don't even know the extent of your DNA, you could be a day away from-" Y/n opened the doors of the ship, that was their cue to stop any conversation regarding the panther. And now the way Y/n got Natasha to lay off. But instead of the usual unlit living room, the place was lit up. The two sisters froze in shock, as the team looked back to see them. They were all wearing green, four-leaf clover hats and merchandise. "Goddamn it." Natasha pinched the bridge of her nose, "Hey gang! Was looking all over for you, don't worry- we got plentyyyy of booze left!" Tony was clearly drunk, and it seemed like Bruce was going to join him soon. Y/n glanced down, seeing foreign-signed bottles. Asgardian beer.
However, it seemed like the Asgardians barely had any, with Loki glaring at the coach and Thor standing with Steve. "Late night out ladies?" Tony asked, "The jet isn't just for stargazing y'know?" Steve sighed, "Tony, drink some water." The mechanic just rolled his eyes. "But he is right, where were you?" "We went out for a snack. Would've brought you some back but- we thought you'd all be in bed by now." Y/n frowned, walking through the crowd to her room.
"Got some whiskey?" Natasha turned to Tony, who smiled. "OF- Course!" Loki rolled his eyes, before getting up to follow a certain someone. Using a spell, he watched her turn in the hallway, clearly on the way to her room. But just as he took a step forward, she froze. "Why are you following me, Loki?" Y/n wiped the stress from her face. He quickly revealed himself. "Why have you been leaving in the night? Every few days you and your sister disappear." She turned around, crossing her arms.
The two had always gotten along, with Y/n being the only one who hadn't held a grudge since 2012. She was still in Hydra's hands by then, but regardless the girl knew what it was like to become a weapon. And though there was speculation on whether or not Loki was in control, she knew what she believed.
"Have you been watching us?" Loki held his breath, "It is not hard to tell when two of the tower's inhabitants have been leaving in the night, two of the.. Slyest Avenger's, that is." "Oh, I'm sly?" "When you want to be." He stepped closer. Y/n allowed it, remaining still in the hall. Just as the atmosphere relaxed, Loki had to ask. "Why are you here?" Of course, Y/n was skilled in combat, but rarely ever joined the team on missions. She didn't seem to enjoy it when she did either.
"I'm here for my sister." She sighed, "I'm lucky to be here." Loki raised his brow, "Are you? It seems as if this place is as much a cage for you, as it is for me." "Pretty big cage, don'tcha think?" "Does it matter?" "This is going nowhere." Just as she turned to leave, he grabbed her wrist. The skin darkened to his touch, and Y/n quickly pulled away. Loki had never seen her scared like this, petrified as she was.
Before the god could even open his mouth, she was gone. She had nearly unmatchable speed, making her way to the lab. Loki was not far behind, trying to spot her hand. She burst into the lab, hand clutched to her chest, she noticed the claws edging their way from her fingers. But she had just fed, how could this be happening? Y/n searched the lab for anything- serum- phone- She couldn't just walk into the main room like this.
That's when she heard the footsteps, three sets to be exact. She quickly hid herself behind a case. She tried to steady her breathing, but all she could think about was his reaction. What would have happened if he had walked in at the wrong moment.
"She doesn't know yet." Natasha walked with Bruce, "Nat-" "I know. But with everything going on..." The two entered the lab, "If what you're saying is true, one word from Pointy could flare up her transformation." Natasha frowned, "And the feedings?" "Sure, they help but eating a few coyotes isn't gonna prevent her from having strong emotions." Bruce grabbed his laptop, "And we don't know how unpredictable the panther is. You said the other DNA experiments became rabid." "Sure, but Y/n's different. She always was. Maybe if we..." Her eyes spotted the figure emerging from the case.
The black ears flickered, her yellow eyes shining in the room. "You knew." Y/n said, "You told him." She turned to Banner, who put his hand in front of the spy. "Y/n- I-" "That's not- MY NAME!" The windows all shattered, "Say it." She kicked the case away, revealing her black tail, and ink-dipped claws. "You're not in control, listen to me-" "You would know wouldn't you?" The lights flickered about them, "You didn't mention any electromagnetic telekinesis.." "I didn't."
"This is a cage- You are a cage! This- THis is just like before!" Natasha put her hand out, "I didn't lie about anything else, I promise you." Y/n didn't seem to believe her. But just as she took a step, someone grabbed her waist. In a mist of green, she suddenly felt a wind. It was a cool breeze, partnered with the sound of reeds scratching up against one another. In a single sniff, she knew who it was, she pushed herself off of the God with a sneer. Y/n shuffled away from the god, falling to the fauna below. "Why... Do you hide your other half?" Loki asked. Y/n blew the stray hair from her face, "You know for the god of mischief, you should be better at recognizing darkness"
"You're right." He crouched to her level, "But I don't see any within you." Her ears flattened, finally allowing herself to take a breath. "I don't suppose you want to return to our cage?" She sighed again, shaking her head. "Then let us walk. Asgard is particularly beautiful this time of night." He offered his hand. Y/n tilted her head, before reaching out to take it. Loki blushed, she looked like a stray kitten. He pulled her closer, "Let's us go then."
