I've been living in Jamaica for as long as I can remember and when Sora gave me the chance to come visit her in New York, I took it immediately.

I've always seen New York as 'that city', whenever I saw clips of New York being shown, I got excited about it. Of course I know it's not all pretty, there are some rough places but it's still a beautiful city.

I had just landed so I took my blinking airpods out, shoving them back in their case before standing up to grab the luggage above.

With the luggage in my hand, I leave the airplane, making my way to the exit. I walk trough the doors and my eyes scan the place, looking for Sora.

I spotted her, she was wearing a black bodysuit with spaghetti straps. I run up to her and she instantly opened her arms for a hug. We stand there hugging for a while until I notice she brought someone along.

Two people actually, this one taller guy with a light skin complexion and thin dreads. Next to him stood a shorter girl with a more brownish skin complexion and long black hair.

"This is arion" she points to the guy, "my boyfriend" she smiled widely. I give him a good look, up and down before smiling. "And this is my best friend Amaiyah" she spoke as she pointed to the girl.

I gave her a good look as well but not smiling this time, I gave her a rather skeptic look. Amaiyah awkwardly stood there as she mumbled a "nice to meet you" to which I don't respond.

I just acted as if i didn't hear her say that, Sora then started walking to the exit with Arion and Amaiyah immediately following her. I hold my luggage and walk with them to Arion's car.

He puts my luggage in the trunk as I take a seat in the back, having to sit next to Amaiyah since Sora sat in the passenger seat. I turn to face the other way and stare out the window as we start driving.

I admire the view of New York as it's so different from Jamaica. Sora and Arion were chatting amongst each other as Amaiyah stayed silent and typed away on her phone. We arrive at Sora's house and get out, we unload the luggage and bring it inside.

Amaiyah was still typing as I give her a weird look before entering Sora's house. Everything was brought inside and up to Sora's room before we sit down in the living room.

Arion and Amaiyah left in a hurry after dropping Sora and I off at her house, I was curious what it was about but I stayed out of it. Sora started by giving me a tour of her house since her parents weren't home yet.

The living room was big and full of decorations, it was far from empty. The way it all looked together made it look real homey. She shows me her kitchen, bathroom , washing room and all the bedrooms.

I was gonna be staying in a guest bedroom upstairs, I place everything down somewhere and make it look a bit nice. I was gonna be staying for a month since I had a long break.

As the evening came around, Sora wanted me to meet all of her friends so she invited everyone over. They sure took their time coming here because the first to show up was Arion and after that we waited half and hour for this guy named Qwayshawn.

I greet him and introduce myself and he seemed rather shocked by my Jamaican accent. Since I landed I kind of got insecure of it because it was a obvious sign that I wasn't from here.

I just awkwardly smiled as he chuckled and sat down. Sora said she had invited Amaiyah, this guy named Camrin and a guy named Kay too but it seemed like they were a no show.

Sora gets to calling, "Yo where y'all at?", I hear her say through the phone. I didn't mean to be eavesdropping but I was a really curious person. I could hear Amaiyah's voice but I didn't understand what she was saying.

Sora came back into the living room with an unsettling expression and sat down. "They not coming today" she spoke clearly as she coughed. My curiosity couldn't handle such a weak explanation so I asked. "Why not?" to which Sora's face slightly showed an annoyed expression.

"They're busy, they'll..uh be here tomorrow I guess?" she spoke looking down at the blunt she picked up. I was so curious but knew I had to stay put because I couldn't annoy her on my first day here.

We just sat there with music being heard in the background as the three of them smoked weed. I refused because I tried being healthier..

We end the evening as the boys go home and me and Sora watch some TikToks together before going to bed.

i've been writing this part for weeks and it just didn't add up but now i've got it
i'm gonna be more consistent and end this book soon
