He growls roughly as he burrows his snout into my open arms. The moon shines brightly, reflecting onto his golden honey orbs. I love them, but they only come in his wolf form.

The weight of his giant wolf body pins me to the ground, but if I must stay like this, I will. I am the only one that can keep him calm when he is in his wolf form, so I have to stay with him all night.

I drape myself over Dylan's large brown-furred body, cuddling close to gather the warmth of his fur. A group of fireflies buzz past, and I stroke the fur leading up to his nose to wake him. "Dylan... Look... Fireflies..." I whisper, and his tail gently wags, smacking me lightly on the back.

He looks up at me, his dog-like gaze seducing me deeply. I scratch the fur behind his ears. A low repeated thumping sound fills the air.

"Good boy." I say teasingly, and he licks my face with his sandpaper tongue.

I smile. "I love you too."  I plant a kiss on his black nose and lay my head back into his fur, and we both fall asleep together under the moonlight.

The lanterns are the only thing still intact, everything else destroyed completely. This is the result of a full moon night, those without mates to tame them running free in Lunar village. Rubble lays strewn across the streets, the canvas walls of people's houses torn to shreds.

Dylan walks by my side. He has nothing but a tunic draped over him, what most of the Lunar Wolves are wearing post transformation. Some have turned back early, already wearing their pajamas.

The lanterns in the tree tops send a handful of colors illuminating the dirt road that I stand on. As soon as I spot Dylan's family, all of them there and in their human form, I release his hand.

"Goodnight," I say, standing on my tiptoes to reach the full expansion of his muscly 6'5 frame. I still barely meet his breasts, but he cranes his neck and plants a soft kiss on my lips.

"Goodnight pet." His husky voice echoes.

I frown. "I told you not to call me that."

"But-" He pouts.

I giggle. "You can't call me a pet when you just about could be one!"

I give him another kiss goodbye and set off down a different road, where my older brother waits in his truck.

"Hey," I nod to Sam, and I pull open the door to the passenger seat. When the heat of the car hits me, my muscles stop tensing.

Sam smirks. "What did you too get up to tonight?" I roll my eyes. He's pathetic. Sam leans in closer. "Did he sniff you?"

I gag, almost throwing up all of my meals. "EW! NO! GROSS!" Sam laughs maniacally, and I slap him on the face, leaving a red mark across his cheek. My hands fly up to my mouth. "I AM SO SORRY!" I exclaim, but Sam just shakes his head and starts the car engine.

Has hanging out with the wolves more often changed me? Has my family noticed?

Dylan and I have always liked each other, but it wasn't until last summer that we started going out. I have promised myself to him, and on his 20th birthday, when he has to pick his mate, he will pick me.

In one month.

I have been lost in my thoughts for so long that I don't notice we are pulling into the driveway of our five-story mansion. My dad is rich, but I never like to brag about it. I took the smallest room, and have only a little furniture. That's why we know about the Lunar Pack. Some just think they are a little village, some a cult, but we know their true secret. They are werewolves.

My father fell in love with one of them when he was my age, but she was taken by the mafia. The mafia has been trying to eliminate my father for years, and before that, his father. He keeps all of our money in a vault hidden in the basement, but one of the security guards let that slip about a year ago. Now we have heavier security everywhere, especially the basement.

They tried to hold her for ransom, but for some reason, my dad wouldn't pay. Then he married my mom, and since then, he has kept the secret for the Lunar pack; Covered it up when it starts to slip.

Two security guards stand at the front door. When they see Sam and I they raise their hand to a laser scanner and a brick pops out, revealing a button that unlocks the door.

My family's hands are not recognized by the censors, in case anyone ever violently forces us to unlock the door. The guards have guns on them, and are equipped with many other weapons.

We walk into the large marble foyer, and I yawn. It's been a long night. The sun is already rising. When the Lunar wolves transform, it only lasts a couple of hours and ends right before sunrise.

Fatigue is slowly creeping up on me from spending most of the night awake as I drag myself up the stairs and into the shower. I rinse myself and then my hair, and then throw myself into bed.
