"It's been a long time, Jungkook."

The wastage of words for the speaker seemed irrelevant to the addressed man who got up from the bar stool only to be stopped by the other.
"Can't we just talk?" Two hopeful eyes were looking at the senior police officer.
"I don't want to talk to you out of all people, Ji-ho." Jungkook walked out with a straight face after inserting the phone into his pocket to avoid any conversation with Ji-ho that goes more than few seconds.

It's been years since he last saw the other man but the heartbreak felt just like a yesterday's episode. They have been best friends since time unknown but every tie got cut once the hopeless romantic boy confessed his feelings to the childhood best friend. Although the feelings were shed off long back, an unknown grief took place in his heart. Scrabbling through the past memories, his mind got stuck at the new captured statement of Ji-ho.

"Miseries? What miseries? What misery is he in?"

Jungkook kept mumbling as he was currently seated on the driver's seat in his car. After a lousy day, he was feeling lethargic even for steering the wheel to drive off. Heaving a deep sigh, he banged his head on the wheel producing the cacophony of honk. He immediately raised his head slapping his own cheeks to get himself out of the embittered state of mind. Suddenly, a small smile made its way to the corner of his lips at the thought of some place that he considers his favourite. Without wasting a moment, he started the car engine after checking the capacity of his wallet.

The busy counter sending out plates of hamburger and fries and the smell of freshly grilled cheese are the type of joys Namjoon is eager to trade for with the exciting parties. A plate of chicken hamburger with French fries on the side was ordered. A can of diet coke was added in the order later on. He thanked the almighty for finding an empty table at one corner because sharing tables is a very common practice in that overcrowded place.

"Are you saving this for someone or can I sit here?"

Scribbling on the sudoku section of the magazine was paused to lift his head up. A handsome man with unevenly brushed hair and exhausted eyes asked the law student pointing at the chair across him that was lying vacant.

"It's fine, you can take it."
"Thank you."

Namjoon kept the pen and magazine aside to take a new bite off his hamburger while the other man was trying hard to tear off the mustard sauce sachet, once with his fingers then with his teeth, failing both ways. The disappointment in his face managed to throw pity in the spectator's eyes.

"Can I help you?" He asked extending his hand towards the man that puzzled him at the sudden offer of help.
"Umm no, thanks. Uh- actually you can. I mean yes please!"

A small chuckle escaped at the man's cute stutter which was returned by the other too. He put the sachet on the table sliding towards Namjoon with a smile displaying two slightly protruding incisors that made him look adorable like a rodent. With a single bite, the seal of the mustard sauce sachet was torn off and placed on the man's tray.

"Thank you, I guess I am just exhausted else I won't be outsourcing energy for having a proper meal."
"It's understandable! You look pretty worn out."
"Do I?" The man quickly brushed his rumpled hair with fingers while Namjoon started laughing at the awkward action of the man.
"Yeah, now it's better. I guess you had a rough day."

Namjoon is a reserved person who maintains minimum exchange of words with people but the charmingly artless actions of the stranger assured him of some intuitive similarity in their personalities.

"Well, 'rough' is a bejewelled word, I would rather use 'shitty' in my description of the day." He emphasised on the negative words to explain the reason of his sloppiness.
"Dig in to the food, it will take some off the 'shitty' things you have been through, uh-"
"Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook and yes, this is my happy place, the food here always softens my mood." He finally lifted the burger after squeezing some sauce off the sachet applying in between the upper bun and the patty.

"Nice to meet you, Jungkook. I'm Kim Namjoon or just Namjoon."

As Namjoon extended his hand for a shake, Jungkook's teeth took a break from chewing on the food inside his mouth as his eyes witnessed the most delightful dimpled smile in the world. It was then that he realised how handsome the man in front of him was. Fluffy hair parted in the middle, expressive eyes and the small dimples on his cheeks were the most noticeable factor in his appearance. Even in the sitting position, he looked taller than Jungkook but the smile had a softness that melted the cop's heart in a moment.

"Hello!" Jungkook's trance got broken when Namjoon waved his hand getting no response from the other.
"Sorry! I was just thinking of something. Hello Namjoon, it's really nice to meet you too." He took back his hand before shaking as he forgot to wipe off the burger grease.

Namjoon found the man extremely adorable for his confused actions and fumbled words. Rest of the evening went discussing on the burger joint and food in general. Not much was disclosed about their lives except for the names and food preferences which were undeniably similar as Namjoon would have presumed.
