Did you know that many people consider their childhood to be the best time of their lives? They often yearn to go back to those carefree days, playing with friends, spending quality time with family, and even squabbling with siblings. It was a time free from worries and hectic schedules, where life was simply enjoyed to the fullest. However, not everyone has the privilege to look back on their childhood with fondness. For some, childhood was not a golden time but rather a period fraught with difficulties and hardships. While many cherish their early years, there are those who view their childhood as a challenging and painful chapter of their lives. This disparity in experiences highlights the diverse and complex nature of human life.

The hospital's sterile, whitewashed walls seemed to hum with an ambient sense of anticipation as the two couples walked through the hallway of Seoul City Hospital and entered room 365. The nurse, poised and professional, greeted them with a warm smile.

"Hello, sir. Hello, ma'am. Mrs. Kang, the doctor, hasn't arrived yet, so it might take some time for her to get here. We are really sorry. I hope you won't mind waiting for her arrival," she said courteously.

Min Sue-ok, nodding graciously, responded, "Oh, no, it's okay. We can wait for her arrival. Thank you for letting us know."

"You're welcome, sir. Please have a seat here. In the meantime, I'll bring some coffee for both of you," the nurse offered kindly.

"Yeah, thank you," Min Sue-ok replied, appreciating the nurse's hospitality.

The couples settled into the chairs, the room filled with a quiet sense of expectation, as they awaited the arrival of Mrs. Kang.

With that, the nurse left, leaving the couple alone in the room.

Min Sue-ok: "Are you excited, honey? I can't wait to see our boy."

Min Ho-yeni: "I'm very excited! Seeing him before birth just sounds so magical."

Min Sue-ok: "It is."

Minutes later, someone entered the room, drawing their attention.

Doctor: "Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Min, I'm really sorry for being late. I got stuck in traffic. I hope you didn't mind."

Min Ho-yeni: "No, no, it's totally fine."

Doctor: "So, we should start the process. Mr. Min, I request you to please leave the room for a moment until I call you."

Min Sue-ok: "Yeah, sure."

Mr. Min left the room, and the doctor started making the necessary arrangements.

Doctor: Mrs. Min, please take this pill before we start the prenatal sex determination.

Min Sue-ok: Okay.

She took the pill with a sip of water and then changed into a patient's gown to facilitate accurate measurements of both the baby and her own body.

Doctor: Before we start our ultrasound and the sex determination process, I want to clear up some questions.

Min Ho-yeni: Go ahead.

Doctor: Firstly, it's important to understand that prenatal sex determination can sometimes bring up ethical considerations. Are you aware of the implications and do you have any concerns or questions about this procedure?

Min Ho-yeni: Yes, we understand the implications. We just want to ensure that everything is okay with our baby.

Doctor: That's perfectly understandable. Our primary goal is to monitor the health and development of your baby. If you're ready, we can proceed with the ultrasound.
