When Jennie, Rosé, and Taehyung returned to the house, the atmosphere was thick with the tension of unresolved emotions.

They found the living room empty, Mr. Kim's presence conspicuously absent.

Mrs. Park was the first to greet them, approaching from another corner of the house as she spotted the trio, her eyes soft with understanding and concern.

"Jennie," she began, wrapping the girl in a warm embrace, "you're always welcome in our home, in our family. You're like a daughter to us."

Jennie sighed, accepting her hug gratefully before they pulled apart.

Mr. Park joined them, his expression remorseful. "I'm sorry, Jennie. I should have seen how much he's changed since our college days. I never imagined that this was how he was. I guess I just couldn't get past how he used to be."

"You shouldn't have to apologise. He's very good at hiding it, and well, I guess we had our own way of trying to make it seem like we were a perfect family. Nothing would've seemed off from the outside." She acknowledged, as he shook his head.

"Still, we were so close as families, and we never realised what was actually going on. I know it's been said already, but you're like a second daughter to me Jennie. You've grown up in this house with Rosé. Nothing will change that." He told her, briefly hugging her as Rosé came to stand beside him.

"Thank you. That means a lot to me." Jennie managed a small smile, out of tears to tear up again.

A few more thoughts later, the group finally acknowledged that it was quite late at night, and that they had school tomorrow, deciding to part ways for the day.

As everyone retreated to their own bedrooms, Jennie couldn't help but fish through her drawers to pull out the unmistakable pale pink and gold music box, sighing sadly as her fingers traced every edge of the box.

Later that night, Taehyung knocked softly on Jennie's door, pushing it open to find her seated at the bay window, the moonlight casting shadows across her face.

She was absorbed in the gentle tune of the same music box, her fingers tracing the delicate dancer within.

He approached quietly, not wanting to startle her. "That's beautiful," he whispered, nodding towards the music box.

Jennie looked up, a sad smile playing on her lips. "It was my mom's," she shared, her voice thick with nostalgia.

"My grandma gave it to her, and then she passed it down to me when I started getting into ballet." She explained, focusing back on the music box.

"It's a reminder of her? For you?" He observed with a question, watching as she let out a slim smile.

"Yeah, it is," Jennie agreed, her fingers lingering on the small key attached to her necklace.
