New year, new me

You sighed, in the backseat of your parents' pickup truck. You were moving to a new town, and definitely not willingly. All of this happened because of one incident, "*one*!" You thought to yourself.  You looked outside, watching your car pass the houses and lakes every once in a while. Silence filled your car. Your mom wasn't happy, and your dad silent. Thinking about how it used to be between you three, it felt like it has been ages since you guys got along. You tried to divert your attention from your memories to now, but you just couldn't. You missed your old school. Your friends. Your crush... Soon enough, the truck came to a couple potholes.

Half asleep, you barely realized that you were almost there to your house. After, a big bump startled you, jolting you up, greeting you with a 'Welcome to Elmore' sign. You realized you were in the suburbs, and in fact in your town. Soon enough, your car came to a halt.

"We're here!" Your mom said. She always tried to make things the way they were. "Wake up y/n, we're here!" She called out.

You groaned. "I heard you."  Your dad was half asleep.

The land was desolate, smeared with dehydrated shrubs and dried trees. As you observed all the other plots around it looked very different. Sighing, you opened the car door being greeted with a medium-sized house coated in an obnoxious color.

"Purple.."  You stood and stared. What an odd color choice.

"Unfortunately we didn't get to choose. This is how it came, and I'm guessing we'll have to make as much do with it as we can." Your mother chimed in, standing beside you arms on her hips. She opened the car trunk and pulled out your bag colored in your f/c.

"Here, pick this up and take it to the porch."

"Okay."

Walking up the stairs, you glanced up to be surprised with an orange purple hue on the sky. You enjoyed sunsets. Gaping at the sky you almost tripped over the stairs, dropping the bag filled with fragile items. As you three finished up bringing the boxes your mom pulled out the key. "Here, brace yourselves!" She joked. There was a custom you all had starting from your 3rd birthday where every time you moved you would countdown doing a surprise reveal of the interior.

"3, 2, 1!"

The door swung open revealing not a breathtaking house but rather a dusty old living room that looked like it hadn't been swept since the 80s.

"First the purple colored house, now a rusty old inside?" You groaned.

"Guess it'll have to work..."

You and your parents were doing an all-nighter cleaning the house. Getting up from  wiping a desk with windex, you sighed, looking over your phone. !:00 am. "Guess you'll have to go to sleep later than expected." Your father spoke up. He placed down a lamp near your bed. The room turned out to be not as big as your old one, but it was fine. You weren't one to complain anyway. It had an old vintage poster presumably accidentally left behind by the old tenants. Jumping into bed not bothering to change your clothes you quickly fell into a quick slumber.
