Meera woke up to the gentle rays of the morning sun streaming through her window, signaling the start of another school day.
With a sigh, she rolled out of bed and began her morning routine, slipping into her crisp white check shirt and carbon blue skirt.
She tied her hair up in high ponytail and checked herself in the mirror one last time before heading downstairs.
In the kitchen, her mother was preparing breakfast, while her father sat at the table, engrossed in the morning newspaper.
Meera's younger sister Siya, a mischievous third-grader, was already up, her laughter filling the air as she play with her barbie dolls.
"Good morning, Meera," her mother greeted with a warm smile. "Breakfast is almost ready. Hurry up and finish getting ready for school."
Meera nodded and quickly grabbed her lunch box before heading out the door, her backpack slung over her shoulder.
As she walked to school as her school was 20 minutes distance so she prefers walking , Today, she felt a bit more excited than usual.
Today was a free period, her geography teacher said that he will not attending the school today for some reasons, which meant a break from the usual routine of classes and lectures.
Yayyyyy.
As the 4th period bell rang the students take the permission from PHE teacher and started going to the ground, Meera and her friend Rani found their usual spot under the shade of a tree, a way from the hustle and bustle of the playground. They chatted about their classmates, sharing the latest gossip and stories from their lives.
"So, did you hear about what happened in class yesterday?" Rani asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Rani is a extrovert girl all the gossip and news she knows. And by her Meera also got to know about it.
Meera shook her head, eager to hear the latest news. "No, what happened?"
Rani launched into a detailed account of a prank pulled by one of their classmates, and Meera giggles hearing her. But even as she laughed along with Rani, Meera's attention kept drifting towards the volleyball court, where Lakshya was engrossed in a game with his friends.
"He's so good at sports, isn't he?" Rani remarked, following Meera's gaze.
Meera nodded absentmindedly, her eyes never leaving Lakshya's figure as he moved gracefully across the court. Rani smile seeing her friend because she knows that Meera started to like him but she will not accept the reality.
Meera and Rani chatted under the tree, Rani couldn't help but notice Meera's frequent glances towards Lakshya on the volleyball court. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Rani nudged Meera teasingly.
Rani smirked, clearing her throat dramatically. "Uh-huh, dhyaan kaha hai tera, Meera?"
