Chapter 10: Rumors and Heartbreak

at School the news spreads.
"Did you hear? Steel-Girl was there!"
"If she was then how'd Eva die then! Surely she would've been fast enough?"
All day, everyone's talking about it!
"Maybe Steel-Girl isn't as good a hero as we all thought? I mean she has superspeed. Plus her heat-Vision could've been used to cauterize the wound so Mia wouldn't have bled out." Someone in class says. She's right… I should've thought about that.. but I wasn't thinking…
After school there seems to be a cloud of silence and tension between Mia and I.
She looks at her phone, but doesn't say anything to me
She doesn't meet me to start hero work either.
She calls my suits.
"My house now!" She says, between the sounds of destruction.
I Push for speed, every ounce of speed I can muster.
I get shot out of the sky.
"Ahhh good I wanted both of you here.." it's Him!
I Instantly fly into him.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" I Yell out, dragging him through the street.
He kicks me off.
"Ooooh feisty. Well come on then, have at it!" I fly at him, but he dodges, and Grabs Me by my cape, slamming me into the street, before throwing me through a house. I push off from the ground, I can feel My eyes heat up.
"I'LL TEAR YOU APART!" I fly at him. He shoots a Laser, which I dodge, before punching him. He goes flying into a Car. I rip a light pole from the ground, and Swing it at him full force. No plans, pure unfiltered rage and Fury.
He Shoots A stream of fire at me. I move closer, as he starts moving back away from me, he's moving away in a frenzy.
"No! I fought your father! I AM STRONGER!" He swung his fist at me. I grabbed it And start squeezing. The armor breaks against my force, before shattering. I Punch Him again, Shattering his helmet and breaking his nose. He tries to punch me again. I Stop his fist and do the same that I did to the other.
"Haha.. Do it! I know that look! Kill me! Let me join my family!" He yells out. No… I want him to suffer! If he dies, he'll just be getting exactly what he wants.
I form Power-Nullifier cuffs on his wrist from my suit, when an explosion erupts from Mia's house. DAMMIT NOT AGAIN! I FAILED AGAIN!
I Fly over, as Mia's holding her dead parents.
"NO! Please you… you'll be ok! Pleeeaaaasse! Stay.. stay with me.. please" her mask retracts as her tears Fall onto their bodies..
"I'm so sorry.." I put my hand on her shoulder. She Grabs onto my arms, and pulls herself closer..
"No.." she says..

"In recent news, The Home Of Robert and Vanessa Richardson was Seemingly Bombed, authorities have the suspect Patrick Brady In custody, the long presumed dead Patrick was Also known under the Alias of Power-Bank. Many are questioning the involvement of The Hero known as Burst, believing She could've saved them." I turned off the TV after that. Mia has been staying with Mom and I, but she hasn't been Eating.
"You should eat, Greatanian or not, there's only so long we can go without.."
"Why did you let him live?" She cuts me off.
"HE KILLED OUR BEST FRIEND, AND YOU LET HIM LIVE. Why?" She asks, her voice seems angry..
"Because he would've gotten off too easily if I did." I say.
"SO MY PARENTS DIED BECAUSE YOU PRIORITIZED YOUR DESIRE TO MAKE HIM SUFFER OVER THE SAFETY OF OTHERS!" She says, getting up.
"Mia I didn't.." she storms off, going into the yard.
"Mia, wait!" I say.
"NO! LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!" She yells out. She takes off shaking the ground, her eyes glowing bright red.
