THOUGH THE LUNCHROOM was loud, the table that the group of seven sat at, was not.

4 sat on one side, ashlyn, [Y/N], aiden and ben in that order. on the other side was logan, taylor and tyler.

aiden was creating a food fortress that [Y/N] aided in meanwhile the rest of the teens were dead silent.

without warning, tyler finally spoke up. "i think we should go back to savannah." the group took a minute to fully process his words. "i thought everyone agreed it was too dangerous...?" logan hesitated awkwardly while he poked his tray.

"so what?" tyler raised his hand, "we're supposed to let things stay like they are?" he went on. "i'd rather be semi-stuck than permanently stuck." ashlyn said.

"well maybe if you would have told us the truth from the beginning, we wouldn't be stuck at all!" he grew louder as he spoke, clearly frustrated.

ashlyn began to grow angry as well. "i already explained why i didn't-" aiden interrupted. "aren't you one to talk." he said so casually. [Y/N] began to feel awkward. they knew that it was nobodies fault, but they felt that if they said something they would get yelled at.

"you're the one that brushed it off as a prank and walked off." he continued. "if she had said anything, would you have even believed her?" he said condescendingly before he began to speak once more, a tired but a patronizing smile rested on aidens face. "with your personality, i seriously doubt it."

this seemed to be tylers final straw before he started yelling. he slammed his fists on the table before standing up defensively. "WHETHER I WOULD HAVE BELIEVED IT OR NOT SHE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING!" the group looked at him awkwardly.

"NOW WE'RE STUCK IN SOME DEMONIC DIMENSION, RUNNING AWAY FROM FLESH-EATING DEADLY CREATURES-" people around them began to stare, slowly moving away.

"-I'VE LOST COUNT HOW MANY NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES I'VE HAD, NONE OF US HAVE SLEPT IN DAYS, WE CAN'T TELL OUR PARENTS OR ANY—" he was cut off by ben slamming his fist on the table, the teens flinched.

ben raised his finger to his mouth, resembling a 'sh' motion toward tyler.

"i think we should really be talking about this somewhere private." [Y/N] spoke up. "especially with how exhausted we are, it just makes us more irritated." they said as they poked their food nervously. "plus, i'd rather not get tested on like lab rats if someone overhears and calls the cops on us.." they finish. the group stayed silent before tyler finished his rant, but quieter.

"if we don't go back to savannah where this cycle begun... then what else are we supposed to do?" he said. this made them all think. what were they supposed to do? they were just teenagers who wanted to go on a regular field trip. (with the frizz, no way.)

although they're thoughts were a bit different, the same question remained.

should we risk it?

— 2 WEEKS PRIOR —

[Y/N] woke up to the sound of their alarm with a groan. they had become so used to staying up and waking up late that waking up at 6:30 in the morning would now be hell for the 15 year old.

they got up and quickly did their routine, ignoring a note on the table laid out by their father. it was the same every day.

"out at work early. wont be home till late. bla bla bla i hate my ex wife."

they changed and shoved a [food option) in their mouth.

they headed out the door after eating to their friend ashlyns house.

ashlyn and [Y/N] met during middle school. [Y/N] was new and the bus was filled, so they had to sit together and surprisingly hit it off.

both ashlyns parents literally cried tears of joy when [Y/N] came over for the first time.

they actually loved [Y/N], and even though [Y/N] probably wouldn't tell them directly, they felt like the family they wished they had growing up.

[Y/N]s parents divorced when they were 11-12. and before they divorced they spent their days arguing about god knows what. constant door slamming, cussing each other out, not even caring if [Y/N] heard or not.

but with the banner family, they felt normal. it sort of healed a small part of them when they met each other.

moving on, [Y/N] arrived at the door step, opening the unlocked door. "hi mr. banner!" they smiled as they shut the door. "i swear to god, [Y/N], call me mike." he smiled and walked over, ruffling their hair.

"okay.. mr. banner-" they bolted up the stairs and into ashlyns room. "hey leprechaun, you ready?" they asked. ashlyn had fallen on the floor, surprised by the sudden arrival of her friend.

"no?" [Y/N] deadpanned. mike banner, ashlyns father appeared behind [Y/N]. "yeah your guys bus is down the street." both teens snapped their head. "crap! im not ready!" ashlyn raised her voice as she scrambled to grab her things. "HURRY" [Y/N] yelled back as they ran down the stairs. ashlyn followed soon after, both teens waving ashlyns mother, emma banner goodbye. she was late as well.

they ran outside and somehow made it to the bus. "i really should have set my alarm sooner!" ashlyn said, [Y/N] chuckled before getting the weird feeling they got from time to time. only now, it was sort of different.

"why do i feel like today isn't going to go well?"
