Hi, I'm Rae. I'm 10 and I go to Brookyln Elementary School. My life is honestly pretty boring. I don't get good grades or literally amazing at everything. I usually get C's and D's and I suck at everything. Unlike Jaden, my BFFWALM. (Which if you don't know stands for BEST FRIEND FOREVER WHO ALSO LIKES MACARONI.) Jaden is perfect at everything; she has NO flaws! She's like, the school's top student. And I'm somehow her BFFWALM. I don't even know how it happened. We just... Became friends...? Anyways, back to the story..
Me and Jaden are at the playground, hanging out at the monkey bars. It's just a normal Wednesday, nothing unusual. Until one of Jaden's friends comes over, her name is Jecka. And boy do I hate her. She literally forces Jaden to stay away from me whenever she can! She's like the devil. And Jaden doesn't even fight back, she just goes with her! I hate when Jaden ignores me... She's the only person who supports me, not even my parents are here to support me... They died in a hurricane around 3 years ago while trying to protect me. I feel like I'm the reason they died, maybe if I wasn't born, they would still be alive... I sigh as Jecka takes away Jaden again. As they leave, I can't help but wonder... Why is Jaden my friend if she knows it can ruin her reputation? It's not like a 5th grade reputation matters after you get to middle school but still... Why?
The next day I see Jaden hanging outside of the classroom. "Hey, Jaden!" I say, rushing over to her, "What's wrong? You seem upset." I look at Jaden with a worried expression.
"Ugh, nothing," Jaden responds in a somewhat annoyed tone.
"Oh... If you say so." I smile and stand beside her awkwardly. She seems... Off today.
"Just leave me alone, Rae," She says with a frown. "Geez."
I look at my shoes, thinking about... Stuff. Why is she being so cold today? Is she sick? No... She looks fine. Hmm... I walk into the classroom as the teacher comes in, the other students follow. I sit at my desk, which was beside Jaden.
I can't hear anything but my own thoughts at the moment, as if the world just went silent. It's honestly probably the only thing keeping me awake... It's just me and my thoughts, until the teacher disturbs it... UGH!
"Rae! Pay attention!" The teacher yells at me.
I just sigh and look at the teacher as she talks about stupid math things... Sometimes I wish the school would burn down. It's not like we need it anyway, can't everyone just be homeschooled? Well... That wouldn't work for me since I'm without parents and live in an orphanage, but still!
