Chapter 1
"Bye mom! Love you!" Kacey yelled back at her mom.Oh my gosh. I cannot believe I'm actually here! This is going to be so much fun!! I need to go find Makayla, and then we need to go to our dorms.
*sigh* How did Kacey get to be so old? Kacey's mom Sarah said to herself. It was just yesterday I was taking her to Kindergarten, and look at me now! Dropping her off at her Senior DO. She's going to be off to college with a family of her own, soon! "Quit worrying so much Sarah! Don't get ahead of yourself. You won't be so sad when the twins are born, because then you'll be having to deal with their college money." Sarah said outloud interrupting her thoughts.
Kacey was graduating a year earlier than most kids, because she had the opportunity to study abroad as a freshman. It wasn't something most juniors got to do. Graduating as a Junior wouldn't be a problem for Kacey, though, because she was already taking 3 college classes, and still made the A's in everything. Kacey's mother was the only person who didn't want Kacey to graduate a year early because she was trying to hold on to her nearly perfect child.
"Ahh! Mom! Mom! There's Kacey!" Makayla shrieked. I've been looking foward to this week for the past 2 years, and now I'm here! My Senior DO week. I get to try out all the different careers that I might want to do. Basically, it's a week to goof off and do absolutely nothing! Plus, I get to stay up late and hang out with all my friends!! Makayla thought excitedly to herself.
Makayla's mom, Dani, was still a little nervous about letting Makayla go to camp this week. "She's not ready to graduate a year early! She's too immature. Ever since that incident last year with Michael, Makayla's been way out of hand, and her grades have increasingly dropped." Dani thought to herself.
"Hey Makayla!! We are finally here! We are at camp! A week of freedom! Boys, parties, friends, and late nights!"
Kacey shouted at her friend. "Is Michael going to be here?" She asked curiously.
"I'm not sure. I hope so, I haven't seen him since he joined the Marines." Makayla responded calmly.
Makayla and Michael had been together for about a year, and Makayla had known all along that he was joining the Marines, she just didn't want to face reality. So when he left about a year ago, it crushed her. Kacey hated seeing Makayla so upset, but there wasn't much she could do, since Makayla had known all along that he would be leaving.
"Have you talked to him lately?" Kacey asked curiously.
"We chatted for about an hour last week, but mum hadn't told me that I was coming to camp yet, so I didn't bother asking him if he was." Makayla responded.
"Maccc!" Yelled a little too familiar voice. Makayla whipped around to face who was calling her. She didn't even have to look, she could recognize that voice anywhere.
"Katie!" Makayla didn't really like Katie, but being as they were step sisters, she didn't have a choice.
"What are you doing here?" Makayla asked her.
"Oh ya know, your mom thought I should come. She thought it'd be fun!" Katie nearly screamed.
Oh crap. This isn't happening. Makayla thought to herself. "Katie, I don't think that's a good idea. There's going to be older kids here, and your technically not even old enough to be here. Your only 13." Makayla saw an upset look shoot across Katie's face.
"I thought maybe you could talk to them though." Katie said wearily.
"Talk to who, Katie?" Makayla said a little snottily.
